WEll i'm going off to uni soon and i'm buying a laptop to join me, i want a laptop that'll still play games well, so i know its not going to be cheap. I'm looking at I5 and I7s and i can't decide which ones will perform better with games such as WoW and BF:BC2.

Hi

Firstly thank you for considering my application.

If I might preface this application by clarifying my motivation for applying to your guild and summarise what I am looking for in a guild and you can decide whether I fit the bill. (I know this will answer some of the questions below but I find using this format makes it easier to explain myself )

I guess what I am looking for is a progress orientated guild with a large enough player base to sustain raiding all year round at a reasonable standard (raids at its stated raid times not whenever it can rustle up enough players). Given I work in finance I struggle to make it home for raids that start before 20:00 during the week, one of the attractive features about your raid schedule is definitely the fact it kicks off at 20:30.

History � Ironically started playing wow pretty much the day it came out, though my expectation was of a game built around massive world pvp, rather than the reality which turned out to be a complete grind fest. I quit six months after they brought in the honour system and battlegrounds etc due a combination of disillusionment and work getting in the way. I started up playing again towards the second half of last year, really just for a laugh trying out various things joined a social guild had a load of fun levelled up 5 toons to 80 etc. Only started raiding more seriously this year, and whilst raiding with a social guild can be fun it also almost always leads to frustration as you get some people who turn out every week and then others who roll in once every 3 weeks. Decided to migrate my main to a more populous server and join a regular raiding guild (my current guild), unfortunately the guild has been unable to sustain regular raiding of late with fewer and fewer people signing and despite the leaders putting in a good deal of effort it seems we can�t even get 10 man raids off the ground any more. Hence I have decided to look for a new home.

Please note: I would like to apply for a raiding spot in the guild as of 18th September 2010. I am away from 10th -18th (last day of leave this year) so am freely available full time from the 18th. I shall be around up till the 10th should you have any questions etc.

Encounter and class knowledge: I am going to stick to my role and general tactics employed rather than copy the encounter mechanics from wowwiki. Try to avoid standing in anything on the ground is an oldie but a goodie as far as tactics go.
PP: Essentially the fight is not a DPS race until you get into the final phase prior to that its more to do with controlling the adds and knowing when to push the phase transition. Essentially you don�t want any additional oozes up during the phase transition. Positioning whilst on the boss depends largely on where you decide to tank him, most common tactic is to tank him towards the back of the room on the right had side near to where the green ooze will spawn. The main mechanic in the first 2 phases are the two oozes that form alternatively when PP cast unstable experiment (has a long cast time so not hard to spot). All melee should stack up on the green ooze the second it is formed and dps it down as fast as possible. (ranged should take a few steps back so that if the ooze selects them everyone has more time to kill it). The reason to stack up is that damage which is done when it reaches its selected target is shared amongst all in close range. All players with pets should put those on the ooze as well since not only do they share damage with the melee but the ooze doesn�t knock them as far back as players so they can get back onto the ooze faster.
The orange ooze forms on the left has side of the room and melee should wait until it has selected the target before zerging it down. (I would generally switch to unholy pres for the run speed boost if I get selected and try to kite the ooze in a sensible manner so it dies close-ish to the boss so players don�t have a long run to get back onto the prof)
Phase 2 is same � Tank needs to kite the boss away from the gas bombs on the ground (if he fails to do that melee should move out of their area).
Phase 3 � This is where fight becomes a DPS race I would ensure all CDs are available for this part of the fight, generally RL will call Bloodlust at start of the phase and dps will go all out on the boss. As space between the goo puddles becomes tight can take some strain off the healers by using AMS to decrease the damage from these.
HM Tacts � Aside from boss being generally tougher, main mechanical changes are unbound plague and phase changes. The plague is cast on a random player and will basically leap to any player within 3 yards (including tank). It ticks for increasingly more damage each tick it is on a players so needs to be passed onto a new player every 10-20 secs (this was case in 10 man). Clearly you want to keep this amongst the ranged and healers if possible but if a melee gets it he should pass it onto ranged and get back on dps. (Haven�t done this but I heard its often easier in phase 3 to just let person who gets it die and get a CR to maximise time on boss). Instead of being frozen during phase transitions you now have the two oozes to deal with (dps them down).
BQL
Theoretically quite a simple fight once bitten dps like mad�.. Suspect most guilds use some sort of addon in 25s which raid warns who to bite.
2 things cause wipes in this fight 1) The blood bolt whirl killing people 2) people fail at biting and getting mc�ed.
The air phase tends to lead to unnecessary confusion with people running around wildly trying to get out of range of each other to prevent the Bloodbolt whirl killing them as it is magnified if you are standing to close to another player. Provided healers have topped everyone off secret is to go slowly and not panic just walk couple steps to get out of range. As a DK I will generally pop AMS just prior to her taking to the air so I can avoid the fear and position myself well. If healers have not been able to top me off now is best time to use my healthstone.
In terms of the biting its basically a case of getting used to fight mechanics (the biting itself is easy just click on their raid frame and hit 1) In theory the best way to do things from a dps perspective is for the person who is about to get bitten to find the person who is to bite them and stand next to them rather than the other way around.
Other than that look out for swarming shadows in which case run out of melee as quickly as possible and along the nearest wall, or pact of the darkfallen where you need to run to within a couple of yards of the other 2 players who have it. Usually best for all 3 to run into the centre of the room to avoid damaging other players.
The off-tank basically does very little in this fight other than soak damage so have always found it useful if he calls out the various cool downs over Vent/TS so players are prepared for them..

The main use of the rocket pack is to fly onto the nose of the horde ship with the best looking female you can find so you can have a �Titanic� moment. Other than that make sure to wear the damn thing nothing like getting into combat and realising you forgot to put it on so can�t fly across to the other ship. Had this happen to the tank before.

saurfang:
as healer on saurfang you have to keep ppl alive (funny enough) and stay out of range from the ppl that got blood boil. the most important thing as healer on this encounter is that when suarfang gets 100 blood power he puts Mark of the Fallen Champion on a random played: this means that the player who got the debuff will take some dmg every time saurfang hits a tank(or another player if the tank cant hold aggro) and if the player who got the debuff dies saurfang will get 5% of his total life back. and as shaman or if u had soul stone:dont use ankh or soul stone the debuff persist through death that means druid shouldn't CR.

Dreamwalker:
as healer on dreamwalker, do you have to heal Dreakwalker to full health while some monsters are trying to interfeer with that. as shaman specced for chain heal you are mostly to raid heal but as holy pala(the only chat ive tried it as) u have to got into some green portals that dreamwalker spawns around her. when u have enteret the portals, you will fly around the room in a "phased" area called the dream world (if i remeber correct) for those who enteret the portals. the point in flying around inside this "dream world" is to fly through some green "clouds" that gives you a buff that are increacing healing done and mp5 and they stack so get as many as possible and dont lose the stacks

Also please describe the proper use of rocket pack in the Gunship fight (and/or include any amusing death stories officers love a good chuckle)

step 1 - Talk to goblin to get the rocket pack. step 2 - equip it. step 3 - put it in to your hotbar. step 4 - use it and target a location to fly to. step 5 - if you are and idiot like me forget all the above steps and fall over the edge before the encounter starts and dont get any loot... Thumbs up to danish ppl!!

Melee DPS: So here it goes:
at Putricide where I stand depends on what tacs is the raid using, but it's not so important, what is important is to not stand in the slime puddle,, at volatile oose, wait till it targets, then nuke it ASAP, when it explodes because it got close to his trget all should be close so explosion dmg is spitted among players, the orange ooze will target a random raid member, who must just run away (abo slows oose), and everybody dps the ooze, p2 is the same as p1 just professor will cast melable goo, what has to be avoided, and orange flasks on the ground what must be also avoided by the melle if not the have 75% chance to miss on an attack, if I am not wrong. In p3 all are no oozes, the prof has to be nuked down, the melee dps, has to avoid the slime puddles and orange flasks and that's all, btw sorry, don't remember the exact names of all the spells what the boss is casting.

At Blood Queen, when I got bitten, I have +100% dps, and keep on dps-ing till Frenzied bloodthirst when I got 10 sec to bite another player (in last guild we had an addon whitch told who must be bitten next), another ability is pact of the darkfallen, which is cast on 3 players who have to move close to each other to 5 yards, usually in the middle of the room, Swarming shadows is an aoe spell what appears beneath the targeted memeber and stay's there pretty long so the player should run as close as possible to the wall and along it till it wears off, so it doesn't bothers anyone there, when she flyes up she will dps anyone with bloodbolt whirl so the raid should be spread so nobody is closer to another one, this is tricky because she casts fear before this, so good common sense is needed here, and this is pretty muck it.

About my rotation, I use Bloodlust>Whirlwind, and Heroic strike on every swing, when there are at least 3 targets I use cleave with every swing + the CD-s as often as possible but I try to have them ready to use them with Bloodlsut, the CD-s are Death wish, Recklesness and Blood fury, I have battle shout all the time up except when I have BOM from a pala, use Slam all the time I got Bloodsurge, victory rush, heroic throw when it's possible and pummel when it's needed.
Hope I didn't forgot anything.

Also please describe the proper use of rocket pack in the Gunship fight
just equip it and jump on the other boat to kill the frost mage after it jump back, on HC should avoid mortar team rocket because it does bigger damage and knocks back

Reasoning for Joining: Because I am tired of beeing in an unserious guild where the fact that I have a 95% attendance in a month to raids, are never late, got always flasks and food and know tacs doesn't saves me from merge's where I loose all my dk, and most off all the progress; and I got a life so I don't have time to raid 7 days a week, to be in a hardcore guild but when I raid I wanna play with mature ppl who use raiding time seriously and prepared

Enjoying your class: yes I do, my dk was not for long my main (Doomhascome), because I started a dk on this realm, but now my warrior my pref class is the main:)
