I seem to do my best design thinking when I have something far more important to do.

But hey, I give to you the EMP Cannon!

I'm realy excited about this. It has the potential to solve a lot of infantry gripes.

You mean that its not good enough for 1 inf so solo a BFR.
They have to add a weapon where 1 inf can solo disable a whole BFR squad making there combat effectivnes for 9 certs lik null?
I hardly use my BFR anymore, two man sucks and whenever you need one you dont have a techplant or V mod.

This weapon would just make PlanetSide into INFside. Infatry inside and infantry outside. Who in there right mind would bring a tank or BFR that could be disabeld at longrange where they became cannon fooder for aircrafts, but not only that the infs would get it as a free extra weapon for AV ( which they already have ) so most probaly every 3rd inf you saw had one.

No, dude sry to say this is a bad idea. If I think of how I would have used this weapon ingame, considering am not to much into actualy "getting the kill", I would most probaly disable whole coordinated teamspeak attack coloms of tanks etc.

From your response, im not sure you read it all man. :(

First and formost, this weapon does not allow BFR's to be emp-sniped from miles away. You do location damage, so you can never disable an entire BFR at the same time. The rate of fire won't be high enougth for that.

Second, it doesn't help a grunt solo a BFR. First off you have to get behind if you want to take out the shield generator, second you have to hit the shield generator, third you still need to do a hefty amount of damage to destroy the BFR in that time, plus the BFR has no normal movement penalties so can auto-run away. With the deci-hotswaping exploit fixed, soloing BFR's will be rightly difficult.

Third, Due to damage degredation over range theres not going to be much point spamming tanks at a distance; it will only last a few seconds and the gunner will know where you are.

Fourth, don't be so defensive around BFR's. Im not targeting them specificly, in fact i doubt theres anyone in this outfit who is as pro-BFR as me, or indeed uses them as exclusively. But they are overpowered against infantry still. I can hop around in my flight varient mopping them up in 2's and 3's without much worry for my personal safty. I'd rather see new options explored then having the Dev's swing the nurf bat till everything in this game is exactly the same.

And please diffrentiate between INFiltrator and INFantry in future.

INF= infantry
INFIL = infiltrator

And I am afraid JoJo is right, I can neither see a reason for an emp weapon, we got jammer nades, which is more than enough for a normal trooper if you ask me. The BFR has (In my opinion) been nerfed enough as it is. It is no longer that horrible, imortal thingy that threshes around.

I did read it all dude. I wouldnt have bothered writing anything if I hadnt even bothered to read it.

1. You are forgetting that there wouldnt be only one person carrying this weapon and for tanks etc they would most probaly be constant hit/jammed if they where close to more than 2 infs.Rexo, youre emp weapon and AV would make it easier to kill tanks solo. Which would make it more profitable to just get rexo in the feild than take a tank. Thats not good for varied gameplay.

2. It makes it easier to jam a BFR ergo it helps inf take em down. Even whit a realy big arch it would be easy to hit such a big target and for the 2man slow moving target long range spam would be more than possible. When you try to escape combat they hit youre shiled gen and instant take it out and you die...

3. Spam hits, because more inf use the weapon, would be the same as you where hit close range since the result would be that every time, or realy often, you as a tank whent into combat most of youre combat time would be while jammed. Not fun.

4. Am not beeing deffencive about BFR. What I do know is:
A. I hardly use em anymore since there now crapp. No realy need to make there lives even harder.

B. I kill more E BFR as a Cloaker CE than a BFR AV... Which I feel should be diffrent.

C. Also the sole reason that they are so few now means whit more weapons agaisnt them there would even be less.

So am not beeing deffencive about BFR I just want varid gameplay and not a UT inf side.
