Actually, its not.
SOE were only brought into Manage VG, now they have actually bought it outright and sacked all but 50 of the Sigil staff and basically pledged to fix the game.

Kill or cure. But with Lord of the Rings Online already out, Conan and a bunch of other MMOs waiting in the wings, does the world even care?

I'm not suprised ... SOE is not a charity org, they had to sack all the redundant people in Sigil.

It's got nothing to do with being charitable or un-charitable its just good working practice.
You get rid of all the people that are not needed at that time so there is no distraction. Bet that 90% of the people gone are in the Art & Content departments.

They are probably gonna do the same "save" tactic as they, SOE, did on Matrix Online and Planetside. Aka, not much, but just keep promising new stuff that rarely comes... If the game is lucky you mite get a Starwars Galaxy change, but that needs manpower I think.

And kill the game?
NGE killed SWG and thats a fact, so much so that SWG Dev's are doing a u-turn and going back to how SWG was pre-NGE.
I quote Smedly here.
2. We do not plan on making any major changes to Vanguard. Any changes are going to come from the team itself. We aren't mandating any big changes to the game. We've learned a thing or two with our experiences with the NGE and don't plan on repeating mistakes from the past and not listening to the players.
