After doing some raids lately, I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's gotten well sick of the complete lack of built in raid-related UI elements in the game. Buffing is an absolute nightmate and healing is even worse.
The only way to target people from other groups is by clicking on their avatar on screen - which simply just takes too long for combat purposes. By the time I've managed to spot the right guy in in the crowd of 15+ players and a dozen mobs ... I'll probably have to first move myself closer to even be able to actually click him, then finally I can get to start my casting animation - by which time he's already been dead for a few seconds.
As for buffing - the only way to see which buffs a person has on is by clicking said person and checking. This obviously is near-impossible to do properly when there's 15+ people moving around all over the place - not to mention that the game only shows the first buffs on the person!
But luckily, there's raidassit:
http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=694
This lovely, lovely mod provides the means for healers to not only see health/mana/rage/energy bars for everyone, it also allows much easier targetting and monitoring of buffs!
If (and there always is an if...) everyone has it installed, that is.
So please, download the mod and install it:
1) download from the link above
2) extract the files
3) move the "ct_raidassit" folder into your wow\interface\addons folder
(example: D:\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CT_RaidAssist)
4a) start up the game
4b) if you are ingame reload your interface with /script ReloadUI();
This should now add a new tab to your social pane, with raidassist option and such. Healer/buff classes might want to mess around a bit with the options (such as moving your own buffs to the top of the buff-monitor list) - others can just leave it for now.
When we start up a raid, everyone needs to connect to the correct raidassist channel - will be explained at that point =)
