Here is where any addon unit that is Mandatory for RL missions will be listed, when taken from the addons for consideration thread. I'd like to ask all map makers to be very sparing in the use of addons, as getting any sizeable group of players properly loaded up with addons if we keep changing things up is serious ballache. I'll keep this thread to one post and just edit it as new addons are added to the list.
The list so far is:
NONE :D

FDF Soundpack... MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the ModWar one.
Only bad sound is the Harrier which whilst better than the release sound is lacking the slight whine that the engines make but that was too loud on the release sound.
Everything else rocks!!! A must download.

FDF did a near total conversion for Operation Flashpoint and it was, in itself, nearly as good as Armed Assault. I'll definitely be checking this out. Especially as it doesn't change files.

Well the ModWar one changes about a dozen sounds, this changes every single one.
From breathing to Grenades, from Bird Song to the Harriers. Its by far the most comprehensive sound mod so far.

It swaps them while you play, but it won't change the actual game files. The other mod you need to do some file swapping, this one you use a launcher, after the game the original files are restored. Folks who used the Planetside sound pack will be familiar with the method.

I downloaded that mod Ludi and not I can't join the RL Server. It claims that I'm running a wrong version. Any idea on what I did wrong?

ArmA's rather strict with addons by default afaik. Dunno since haven't looked into it but i think either the server has to be set to allow clientside addons or it might even require the server to have the same addon installed on and running.

Especially as it doesn't change files.
As Hovis rightly put it, it DOES NOT change files it just runs a Mod which makes ArmA use the FDF sounds rather than the release sounds, so either a setting on the server needs to change or you have fucked something up.

It is possible that there's a setting to allow stuff like that on the server. It doesn't permanently change files but it does swap some when in use.
When all is said and done sadly there's a chance it might not work on the server.

Seems I did have the server requiring equal mod...
I've switched that off seeing as it's only us playing

This one is definitely worthwhile, made me jump out of my skin the first time I heard an AK go off at close range.
Can't for the life of me figure out why they went to the trouble of making an entire new engine without updating any of the sound files.

So is it a good idea to chill and wait a while before installing the sound pack?

No need to wait, it works without any problems ..
