As you all know, or should know, Armed Assault is a game with a brilliant addon making community. We should use this. So if an addon appears that you think should become 'standard issue' so to speak for the outfit on our server then let us all know here. So far the only add-on I've seen that really interests me is a Russian cargo plane, but I'd not say it's useful enough to be mandatory.

There are some quite cool weapons in development iirc, might wanna look out for some of those.

Dont forget Bread... if you make a mish with modded content then that mod becomes mandatory regardless if its a P90 or a Antanov Cargo Plane.

Someone said something about shitty gun sounds. Give this a go.

Do you know if this needs to be installed on the server too?

I think the sound packs are client side data, not 100% sure.

The server has the full game installed. (yay for 2.9GB upload)
If different sound packs are used then does that get checked by the server when people join?

Erm.. No idea tbh, tried checking it from BI's mod boards but didn't get it cleared. Think someone there mentioned that when using edited sounds some configs are changed so the server does check for them, on same thread there was some talk about server admins being able to determine what the server will let use and what it doesn't.
Haven't spotted any "ZOMFG MUST HAVE" addons, there's some interesting stuff in the works but no released yet. Guess Vas would be jolly interested to hear that there's already a Cougar chopper released.

We should also look out for campaigns and missions too...

Here's a very nice listing on Armaholic with huge variety of coop missions:
http://www.armaholic.com/list.php?c=mp_missions&s=title&w=asc&o=&p=&d=0
A few to mention that seemed interesting from randomly browsing the listing:
- Air Cavalry
- Commando
- Maria
- Red Hotel
Also would be fun to have a go at "Sahrani Virus" series of missions (only one out but i understand it's a port from OFP and there's five of them altogether). It's something for shits'n'giggles as it's not a "serious" mission set per se but a nutty job involving zombies :p

I'll add those four this afternoon, can't hurt :)

Kewl :)
Do take note that all of those except Red Hotel are rather large and long missions. Reckoned some of those would be nice to have while the lads are flexing their mappage muscles on smaller scale ops.

Might be worth adding one of the zombie missions for comic value :)

Here's something of interest: Beriev Be-32 Cargo plane (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=858)
Might be something to build a mission around. You know, going back to our roots as Airborne ;)

That's one of the addons I was thinking of using, cos that sort of thing makes for good boomcandy and it'd also be wicked to have to do a Wild Geese style escape in a transport plane. :D

Or a HALO insertion, although i'm unsure how paratroops work in ArmA.
Anyways here's another i've been reading and which might be worth considering:
Authentic weapons & sounds (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=69;t=55977)
There's quite a few tweaks and additions to the weaponry in the game in that. Such as AT-round deflection, laser guidance system for appropriate missiles and such.

Air Cavalry (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=571) is very, very good. Requires some brains though. Ooer.

I'd like to ask all map makers to be very sparing in the use of addons, as getting any sizeable group of players properly loaded up with addons if we keep changing things up is serious ballache.
I propose I host a zip file containing all RL Mandatory addons. Then we won't have this issue

i wouldn't going jumping in asking for addons to be added to the server as most ppl have only had the game for 2 weeks or less... so then finding out that they have to download some more shit (1.05 took long enough) might put ppl off.
I'd wait till BIS give out the real addon making tool and let the mods do the hard core work.
Mods to look for:

German on is in German so i can't read it.... but it looks nice :D
