I hope they won't use the shitty FP browser again :/ It ruined the multiplayer part of the game tbh.

Tbh, didnt really see the point in changing the name from Operation Flashpoint 2 to something else. i agree with Ludi!
Maurgrim
Wednesday, 20th December 2006, 11:16
Operation Flashpoint 2 is a different game (other developers) while Armed Assault is being developed by the guys that made Operation Flashpoint if I got it right.
DarthS
Wednesday, 20th December 2006, 12:23
Yeah, Bohemian studios is it? They split from the publisher (Codemasters) who got to keep the brand name for some reason.
So the real sequel is Armed Assault, while Flashpoint 2 is being made by someone else now.
Nyana
Wednesday, 20th December 2006, 15:33
Operation Flashpoint 2 is owned by Codemasters,
Armed Assault is OP:FP 1.5,
Game 2 = Bohemia's secret new game in development (also large scale warfare).
Volw
Wednesday, 20th December 2006, 16:13
OFP 1.5 was the one developed for US Army, it was called VBS1 ... AA is more like OFP 1.75 ;)

In other news....
505 Games and Bohemia Interactive have announced that they will be releasing exclusive content with the European edition of Armed Assault when the military shooter is release in PAL territories on February 16. Here's the statement they made:
Lucky European gamers will experience a wealth of exciting exclusive features when ArmA: Armed Assault blasts into stores, including:
- Two new aircraft: take to the skies in the fearsome Su-34 Fighter and Su-34 Bomber
- Two new motorbikes: powerful 'hogs of war' for both sides of the battle with the TT650 and the M1030 military motorcycles
- Four new weapons: the Russian rifle AKS74PSO; another Russian favourite the KSVK; the giant US-designed M107 and US rifle variant the M16A4
The PAL version of ArmA: Armed Assault will also launch with an exclusive new mission called 'Blood, Sweat and Tears'. This assignment sees players cast as either special operative Cpt. Mike Lambert or Pvt. Rich Angelo in an open-ended scenario that takes place on one very long morning on the bloody battlefields of Sahrani.

I can't wait for the full game. When it appears I'm going to be looking to put together organised play for it because I think, while it lacks a lot of what Planetside has, it is without doubt the ultimate tactical team shooter.
What I want to do is get one or two nights assigned per week for ArmA where we can play through missions we've built and so on. We might want to look at recruiting new players as well and setting up forums here and TS channels and whatnot. If the multiplayer is sorted out this game is going to be brilliant.

It's not hopes dude. I'll drag you bitches kicking and screaming into that game if it kills you. Besides as I say, we'll look to bring ArmA players in just as we have for WoW and Planetside and the other games that stood the test of time.

Some time ago [...] I was in OFC clan, we've been playing once per week and it was fking bomb! The greatest thing was the mission editor, you'r starting playing some random mission and have absolutely no clue what's going to happen, brilliant!
Ludicrouse
Wednesday, 20th December 2006, 18:01
I used to make and release missions for OFP... the mission editor was great but still, the Legion's history with Non-MMO FPS games is abysmal, to say the least.

Id be up for it.
Hope the combat has been improved though, OpFlash despite the realism had rather clunky and awkward gameplay.

got into the first game i tested, 17 players. tbh its not much else then a remake of the original OFP game, but i guess i wasnt expecting anything else. so nothing new means that its pretty much another boring game imo since ive kinda outplayed OFP...

DarthS

Its OpFlash 1.5.
Which would be fine if this was a mission pack, but its five years on ffs. A new engine on its own isn't worth £30.
