Well worth the reading.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=55008191&sid=1
I do not know where this will get by posting again, and again, one after the other and seeing patch and patch how nothing has been getting better to support us, as far as Discipline and Holy. The basic background is that, Priest… got the shaft of ALL the talents and classes. Voicing our concerns have quite honestly gotten us NOWHERE, and I am starting to loose patience seeing how all these classes are getting wonderfully developed talents and seeing how Priests have gotten the shaft again. And the last straw is the fact that a Priest ONLY defense was fear in PvP and that has been nerfed to hell.
We have absolutely no form of getting out of snares, fears, polymorphing effects, etc. And EVERY other class does. But, we have not ONE. In Battlegrounds, we are consistently 2 shotted even with Pain Suppression (the ever noticeable). We have no form to regen mana, when all mana class users do. Mages- Evocate, Druids-Innervate, Paladins-Blessing of Wisdom, Shamans-Mana Tide, Hunters- Fiegn and eat/drink.
We are the only class without a core ability to a basic escape fear and stuns and snares or take less than usual damage (Innerfire is HARDLY helpful at this point) Mages can Teleport or Iceblock, Frost Nova list goes on, Druids shift and travel from their fights and they have abilities FAR superior than us, along with their basic ability to overall take more damage. Paladins, Bessings, remove snares, bubble…
Our basic concern is the fact that every class can deal more damage per sec than we can max heal per sec, (granted Druids can heal per sec better than we can and have longevity than we do) A basic observation Blizzard, look at the numbers of each battle ground and notice how much a Priest dies opposed to other classes, despite our efforts as support and only support and being 40yds away from the enemy, nevertheless we are still 1-2 shotted. And it has nothing to do with being targeted first and everything to do with the fact we have absolutely NOTHING to escape from danger, or outheal the damage done to us. And don’t tell me Binding Heal is going to help that, when it’s mana efficiency is ridiculous and 3 classes can diminish the amount we heal with a poison or immortal strike. Let alone almost every class can stun… And Pain Suppression can’t work while stunned but Iceblock can… a 41 pt talent opposed to a 21… that is ludicrous and absurd, and how Paladins can core bubble for a duration, and escape snares while we have a weak barrier that supports us for less than 2 secs. (which might I add, doesn’t oppose stuns, and can be dispelled…)
Yet, here are some suggestions (which I hope you do PLEASE acknowledge):
1. Fade- given that we do not have an ability to remove snares or block a core ability to block crucial amount of damage over time, making us highly susceptible to damage and 1-2 shotted, why not make it excessively annoying too. Fade, disengaging you as a target making it annoying to reselect you, Reactive Fade from Transcendence Bonus is just that, and should not be implemented as the same “Fade” disengaging you as a target, but just an overall threat diminisher it currently is.
2. Our set bonuses - You can not look at the Druids, and Paladin set bonuses and say that they are not superior to ours. Make the comparison of tier 3, and say that there is equality with the bonuses.
3. Innerfire- Remove the stacks, and please improve it, It is crucial in a PvP setting that we apply Innerfire and it becomes excessively annoying when we have to reapply it every 2 secs.
4. Power Word: Shield- It does not scale to make a noticeable change.
5. Circle of Healing- This talent now a more useless 41pt talent in the game. An instant cast of 600 healing at level 60 to heal a specific group, why not just PoH? I understand you can target anybody and heal that specific group, but for 500ish, blowing 600 mana, how is that even helpful? I’d rather Gheal (in a PvE setting) taking someone to full health or Flashing (in PvP) then increasing their health alittle risking they will be One shotted from 20%, and leaving me shot with no mana… It would be better if it were a 20 sec cooldown, that healed for 200% to x2.8 of what PoH does for that same amount of mana of 600. It is a 41pt talent!
6. Levitate- Castable on others. Shaman can, althought we it also enables a slow fall, but Shaman can do A LOT of things. Including a self resurrection, which we don’t have the pleasure of enjoying along with Warlocks, whatever, moving on.
7. Pain Suppression- Do you realize how helpful and viable we would be if it were castable on others, I do not see why it should not be. It is a 41pt talent, and its useless to the caster taking damage, as far as it being helpful in PvE of course, and it would not be a requirement either because it is a shield wall, because if you increase the duration it is less likely to be chained, and also make it a counter part from Holy Heals of interrupt and counterspell. Of change it to a Core ability, that also removes snares and stuns, immune to interrupts, and undispellable.
8. Divine Spirit- Core Ability, we are the ONLY mana users without a core ability to return mana, granted the spell trainable to summon a shadow fiend which is not at all useful to mana.
9. Core Ability Holy Nova- this spell is beyond useless, and my only thought to even use this is when there is a Rogue and he is stealth, but that hardly even works. If it were a Core Ability learned at 60 and 70, and increased the healing and damage effect by 600 with a cooldown, it may serve a real damage purpose and a quick heal AoE with 30sec cooldown, how many times is there a Warrior or Rogue at 1k health and I’m at full mana yet, they stun me and get one crit off and I am dead, can not even fear in time, granted, Warriors are able to dispel it. Every Priest is in an inherit form of Holy Priest, so there should be no reason that Holy Nova be to the selective few, regardless of its uselessness.
10. Overall- The overall trees of both Discipline and Holy are conjumbled together, with a splash of smite here and heal this here, and they literally have NO DIRECTION. Paladin, Shamans, and Druids, have ALL they want in ONE TREE. Whereas we’d have to delve 20 points into Discipline and 41 into Holy just to receive half of what they can achieve. We are better healers dead.
Underneath is a Tree examination, and just suggestions, that I gathered from playing a Priest for 2 years and being active on the forums. There is an obvious noticeable lack of thought and “copy and paste” done with the Priest Talents. These are just helpful suggestions that I know Priests will appreciate if you consider or even acknowledge.
I.Discipline
1. Silent Resolve and Unbreakable Will-
Change the position of both of these. Silent Resolve can increase the chance that our spells will not be dispelled for PvP and gives us more points for PvE, for obvious reasons.
2. Improve Innerfire-How about more Resistance
Change this to Resistance of curses, diseases, poisons. This goes hand in hand with the change to Innerfire.
3. Instead of Divine Spirit
Changing this to a group innervate which depends on player amount of Spirit (less effective of course) will actually define Discipline tree and give it some direction, and goes hand in hand with the suggestion to make Divine Spirit a Core Ability, and 21pts down, I’d say its well worth it. 6-8min cooldown. Equal to a mana potion, 1.8-2.4k mana over 6sec channel spell. I call that worth it without being overpowered especially the case when every mana class can regen mana.
4. Force of Will, Change
Hardly useful that far down, and it does not mix well with the tree, it starts off with resistance, adds some mana cooperation and then damage…? Where is it going? Like the Druids Balance tree or the Shamans Elemental Tree, add a component that 15 or 10% of your spirit to equal mana per 5 added. Going this far in a tree, Holy is beyond useless, so making a build directly reflecting how well you conserve mana, making you a successful healer because you’ll have longevity opposed to more plus healing when you can down rank you healing.
5. Focused Power, Change
Again, I don’t know why anyone would go that far for mana conservation, to deal damage… Increasing how well we handle mana will increase our longevity in PvP and PvE, because when we can heal and heal, we will be harder to take down. Replace this with Improve Divine Spirit, or move Spiritual Guidance to that spot.
6. Reflective Shield, Change
This would be a great idea if our shields held more damage. Replacing this with a talent that takes 10% off ALL spells, oppose to it’s counterpart of Mental Agility, would be EVERY helpful in PvP and PvE, enabling more healing and more shielding, along with mana from damage spells. That deep into a Discipline Tree, you bet I’d like to see something with substance, and worthwhile.
7. Focused Power, Buffed and Moved
Moving Focused Power right next to Enlightenment would give the Discipline tree the edge, and worth getting also because, if you add the component that with the Critical Chance by 1% and Damage done by 1%, add also Healing Spells and Effects and Hit rating (or chance to Hit) by 1% (1/5 points) it would be extremely useful and better than what it is.
8. Finally, Pain Suppression
My overall observation, with the forums, and experience in BG’s, is that it is as useless as Circle of Healing. It can be dispelled, hardly long enough to hold real damage, does not change the fact that we still cant escape from being prey to tremendous damage or snares, sleeps, interrupts, but rather taking up space as a non inventive developed talent. If it were castable on others with a long cooldown, I could see some use for it, PvE especially, and PvP. But, if only you could activate it stunned, and it granted immunity to ...
