New patch new specs

currently i've narrowed my new spec down to 2 very similar builds, the specs are pure fire raiding,

retains clearcasting, elemental percision, and then focuses on single target dmg with fire.

2/46/3

frost specs i guess are gonna be a bit screwy, theres nothing much after ice block thats going to add to your dps, so im guessing alot of people will be going heavy arcane for silly crits :)

On the first build why do you choose to take 3 points in Arcane Focus instead of throwing them in Impact, Imp Fire Blast or Molten Fury?

think i heard that frost is good if you go for the water elemental as he does 500dmg frostbolts on 2s casts.

im gonna try a pve frost build but with no frost channeling, ice block or cold snap and instead going pretty deep into the arcane tree so i can get some stupidly high crits, pull aggro and die cos i got no iceblock ><

Can anyone recommend a good spec just for levelling up a mage from scratch? Thinking of prolly playing on my Mage (Seeing as its about the only class i aint played much of).

best bet would be to go for imp fireball, then ignite and then flame throwing for starters

as moose said fire is the best leveling spec because it holds most dps with no +dmg gear.

something like this you should have when leveling. frost might be an alternative but only if it really fits your playstyle. arcane should be left out till you have everything you want from fire/frost since the only useful thing in arcane is arcane concentration (for leveling that is).

Well I'm still not convinced to go fire when leveling but that is just me. I'm cold as ice all the time so ofc. I'd go frost ;). It hold much better cc and just to keep the mod away so you can kill it before it reaches you.

since every man and his dog is doing pvp atm, i respecced to 30 fire 21 arcane, after trying out a few of the new talents, for bgs i really dont think you can beat the burst damage of having pom, and blastwave.

new talents wise - blazing speed is awesome, the chances of it proccing from melle and ranged attacks is 10% and the speed bonus is awesome for either closing down a target , getting the hell away from people or simply running round like a retard and spamming aoe :)

the new fire talents past combustion are nice but are not really needed for bg's, i tried elemental briefly but felt it lacked the raw burst dmg needed in bgs especially wsg, im sure its viable and awesome for 1v1's but sometimes you just need to instagib somebody and get the hell away from there,

still havent tried heavy arcane since i cant face losing all those fire talents - 30 points spent and not 1 seems like a waste or a filler talent.

soullink warlocks and hunters with silencing shot are still a pain in the ass but when werent they.

Need to try a fire build with the new talents, just a bit too used to having ice barrier and ice block for survivability

burst dmg is very good for AB against the good premade to one shot the healers.

i really like my elemental sometimes. e.g. going into iceblock and letting my pet dmg the foe. i need more spelldmg for fire to make it worth because i got too many frost dmg pieces.
