Am now lvl56 and have just unlearned my talent points for the third time(starting to get expensive). I messed about with Protection/arms arms/fury(had to try MS out) and i am now going to go Protection/Arms 39/12 with the purpose of being Primary Tank for the end game Dungeons.
Up untill this afternoon i was quite happy doing extra damage with my Arms/Fury set up i was trying but an encounter with Obsidion lvl52 elite Stone Elemental(Searing Gorge) earlier today convinced me to change talent points sooner rather than later. Obsidion ripped me apart very quickly, was not pretty:/ and tbh i though my Dorf was a bit more robust than that. So i respecced and here is where my points have gone/going...

Protection Mastery
Shield Specialization Rank 5
Anticipation Rank 5
Toughness Rank 5
Iron Will Rank 3
Improved Shield Block Rank 1
Improved Revenge Rank 3
Defiance Rank 5
Improved Sunder Armor Rank 1
Improved Taunt Rank 2
Improved Shield Bash Rank 2
Concussion Blow Rank 1
One-Handed Weapon Specialization Rank 5
Shield Discipline Rank 1
Protection Total: 39

Arms Mastery
Deflection Rank 5
Tactical Mastery Rank 5
Improved Overpower Rank 2
Arms Total: 12
Total
Total Points Spent: 51
Level Required: 60

Messed about for about 1 hour this afternoon after respec and fought Dark Iron Sentry lvl50 elites at Searing Gorge and they took me down to between 25-50% hp every time. I fought using Def stance, only swapped out to get overpower off and always had Battle/Demo shout active. Also was sundering for 1800 each fight and getting about 3-4 stuns per fight with Revenge/Concussion blow.
Does anyone know(Grom) if this is somewhere near where i should be or should i be looking for different/better Equipment(current is mainly sta/str)?

Cheers Bud.

My Build:

Protection 30 pts

Sheild Specialisation 5/5
Improved Bloodrage 2/2
Toughness 3/5
Last Stand 1/1
Improved Sheild Block 3/3
Improved revenge 3/3
Defiance 5/5
Improved Sunder Armour 3/3
Improved Taunt 2/2
Improved Sheild Bash 2/2
Concussion Blow 1/1

Arms 21 pts

Deflection 5/5
Improved Rend 3/3
Improved Charge 2/2
Tactical Mastery 5/5
Improved Overpower 2/2
Deep Wounds 3/3
Sweeping Strikes 1/1

Equipment is currently 60/40 stam/str (with a little agi thrown in, as a lot of my stuff is blue (rare items tend to have your main stats, plus something else)

I'd wonder how good your solo ability was (in Beta, I maxed my protection tree, and had a hard time damaging mobs) I've tried to get a nice balance with this build - it has all the (IMO) useful bits from protection, plus allows me to get the cool toys from arms (sweeping strikes = godly)

Had a similar build to that before m8, why do you leave out Anticipation, 1h weapon specialization and shield discipline? I thought that they were useful?
Iron Will i am not sure on yet, have heard it is broken but need to see for myself really.
Damage output is a worry m8, it takes an age to down a mob with 1h sword. however don't plan on doing to much solo work from here on in but it still a problem:/
How are you for holding aggro and more importantly getting it back when you lose it with that build? Also do you need constant heals m8 or does your equipment/sta/str compensate?
Sweeping Strikes are awesome, is funny to charge 3-4 mobs, hit Sweeping strikes>Retaliation and spam Cleave when ever it lights up, carnage!!

Sheild Discipline, I rarely used (you've probably noticed yours is a low rage build, only rarely gives you options of special attacks). Anticipation is nice, but I wouldn't swap out 5 points elsewhere, wheras 1H wep-spec is too low down in the tree, for my money, I'd rather have the stuff in arms.

So far I'm holding aggro like a hero, obviously :p but seriously in instances dire maul upwards, I'm often tanking 3 mobs, and as long as I get the initial aggro, and the damage dealers are attacking my main target, I'll hold it. Problems come when I get stunned/stomped/bashed away early in the fight, then I'm scrabbling around to taunt back aggro and sunder it to death - improved taunt is a godsend
