Okay, so i got an beta account. Perfect to test out whats going to be good for shammies in TBC. As u know im quite good geared with the elemental gear, extremely good perhaps. But i also remember that elemental was totally unfit for leveling/grinding purposes.
So i might have to go enhancement.. wich isnt bad cause the changes there are more exciting then those in the elemental department.
Im only concerned if its going to be a right choice; considering my melee gear isnt uber. I deffo dont have 2 x DPS one-handers. i only have Finkle's Lava dredger (2h mace) for melee weaps. On the other hand i've heard ill be replacing gear faster then an granny loses teeth.
Melee gear i have now:
Crown of Destruction, ONyxia tooth pendant, Ring of Fury, Sabbatons of the Flamewalker, Seafury Gauntlets.
YET AGAIN; there are some talents/spells now to keep up the mana now for elementalists; like water shield and unrelenting storm. You see my dillema here? perhaps a mix might be good? i deffo have the gear to get a decent mix.
so fortunatly i get to test all this stuff out; and i will. ANd i will most certainly report back to those intrested.
For starters; anyone here has a good talent in mind for me, considering the above and my gear-selection?

just played abit, as an elemtalist.. and mana doesnt really seem to be such a big issue as i wouldve thought. The mobs go down within 2-5 seconds and i spend about 5-8% of my mana. The new mana-talent is awesome.
and lightning overload is fun when it happens.
btw about that. it seems to be just instant, no need to click on lightning bolt it just instantly fires of the 2nd one. However the damage can vary, its not completly identical. The first one can crit; but doesnt mean the second one does.. and visa versa.
if u have the gear to go elemental dont be shy to use it for leveling =)

I've tried dual wield spec so far. I only have 30 hit rating at the moment (3% hit at lvl 60) and I'm missing the additional hit bonus from the resto tree. I find some mobs can be quite difficult to kill -- I get miss, miss, miss, parry, parry, dodge, dodge etc. quite often, often when the mob is at 1% health.
I will give elemental a go and see how that works out.

Dont forget you get 24% miss penalty with dual-wielding and you need 160 hit rating to counter it totally.
What I see is that enchantment is actually going to be a raid toy, if you want to make good use out of it. And pretty hard to equip - to make any practical use of shamanistic rage you have to have (@level 60) over 1k AP and two extremely fast weapons, 1.5 - 1.3 speed dagger pair would be the best while keeping aprox 25% crit rate to be good for the group and kill up that 10 sec 10% AP buff. Beeing a troll actually helps - one more extra attackspeed under your control to use during rage state. And that 10 sec SS means, if we keep hunters off from serpent stings can give every 5 sec 20% damage bonus to one nature spell landing.
On my best attempt with 1.5 + 1.3 daggers (crap greens, but dps is not important in that test) i regened back 3,2 k mana during 20 sec rage state. Was missing BS aswell so theres another 8% mana, but otherwise buffed up (totems, 30str juju, AP firewater).
So this can be useful. BUT test was done on a low AC/level mob that I didnt miss almost any hits. Im afraid this will not be the case on +2-3 level raidbosses.
To recap. Enchantment is a big raid toy im afraid. To kill stuff fast solo, going that deep in ench tree is not wise, Id say 35-36 into that tree is max dps for solo u can get, rest in resto or elemental is better off.
My tests with 306 +spelldamage gear and full elemental spec, both solo grinding and in 5-man hellfire rampant were pretty nice. Too bad I cant find a working damagemeter so I can not give any comparizon to others in group about DPS.

Talents Updated:
We have recently added some new updates to the talent calculator for Shaman.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-shaman/talents.html
Shaman Enhancement Tree
Parry - Renamed Spirit Weapons. Now "Gives a chance to parry enemy melee attacks and reduces the threat generated by your melee attacks by 15%."
Mental Quickness - Moved to Unleashed Rage position.
Unleashed Rage - Moved to Dual Wield Specialization position.
Dual Wield Specialization - Moved to Mental Quickness position, reduced to 3 ranks for 2/4/6% hit chance. Still requires Dual Wield.
Shaman Elemental
Totem of Wrath - Now "...increases the chance to hit and critically hit with spells by 3% to all..."
Elemental Precision - Now "Increases your chance to hit with Fire, Frost and Nature spells by 1/2/3% and reduces the threat caused by Fire, Frost and Nature spells by 4/7/10%." http://blue.cardplace.com/newcache/us/39274560.htm

So you are saying shamans get either 10% or 15% aggro reduction but DPS warriors are still at 0% :D Or did they receive a talent aswell, would sound logical.
I'd say for melee-type, this would be the spec for raiding:
Shaman Talents
Minimum Required Level: 70
Required Talent Points: 61
Elemental Talents - 20 point(s)
# Convection - rank 5/5
# Concussion - rank 5/5
# Elemental Warding - rank 3/3
# Elemental Focus - rank 1/1
# Reverberation - rank 4/5
# Elemental Devastation - rank 2/3
Enhancement Talents - 41 point(s)
# Ancestral Knowledge - rank 5/5
# Guardian Totems - rank 1/2
# Thundering Strikes - rank 5/5
# Improved Ghost Wolf - rank 2/2
# Enhancing Totems - rank 2/2
# Two-Handed Axes and Maces - rank 1/1
# Flurry - rank 5/5
# Spirit Weapons - rank 1/1
# Elemental Weapons - rank 3/3
# Weapon Mastery - rank 5/5
# Dual Wield Specialization - rank 3/3
# Dual Wield - rank 1/1
# Stormstrike - rank 1/1
# Unleashed Rage - rank 5/5
# Shamanistic Rage - rank 1/1
For bit of more pvp-fun, switch 2 talents from elemental devastaion to improve fire nova.

Mine is pretty similar to Cele's.
*edit* wowhead is being an ultra gay and not recording the talent choices ive made when i link to it
Elemental (19 points)
5/5 Convection
5/5 Concussion
1/1 Elemental Focus
5/5 Reverberation
3/3 Eye of the Storm
Enhancement (41 points)
5/5 Ancestral Knowledge
5/5 Thundering Strikes
2/2 Improved Ghost Wolf
2/2 Enhancing Totems
1/1 Two-Handed Axes and Maces
1/5 Anticipation
5/5 Flurry
1/1 Spirit Weapons
3/3 Elemental Weapons
5/5 Weapon Mastery
3/3 Dual Wield Specialization
1/1 Dual Wield
1/1 Stormstrike
5/5 Unleashed Rage
1/1 Shamanistic Rage
The change from Parry to Spirit Weapons looks really really nice for pve, but this is still mostly my pvp build. I might change it after a while @ 70, depending on how dual wielding is.
I'm also going on the assumption that dual wielding will be nice for grinding / pve dps (minus the spikey dps 2h and WF can create)
There's 1 point left over, which I'll probably slam into Elemental Devastation, just 'cause that's where it is now.

All that dual-wield, spec and shamanistic rage are pve purely. You need good dual wield weapons to make any use of shamnistic rage coupled with tons of +hit gear. Witch is pretty different from melee PVP.

Ya, I know itll be only useful with ultra fast weapons for gathering mana back. I'm thinking for grinding it might be useful taking down mobs with little mana usage.

I tried an Elemental build the other night and wasn't that impressed either - didn't see Lightning Overload proc once...

procs once in 20 casts.. over a long long time period ofc:D
best leveling thing would be 30/21/0 or 30/0/21 (NS is lifesaver) for elemental shammies.

Bleh, I dunno, maybe I'll cram a few of the points into enhancement just to get some of the perks (minus the DW) and then cram the rest into elemental or something.
I do like the idea of that lightning overload too, so I'll probably spec for it just for a laugh for a while.

Ummm didnt want to read all posts but i would say resto, atm at lvl 60 i can kill a lvl 58 elite without losing hp when i have earth shield up and in pvp rogues, warriors and pallys cant beat me which is very fun since they were classes i had trouble with when i was elemental, since this new patch im staying resto forever as its best for raiding and pvp imo, am glad blizzard made resto so much more appealing

I'd rather stick to dps build and kill anything or be killed by anything in pvp in 10 sec rather than have a 1 minute fights with anybody :D but i guess thats just me.
