So there was a request for pics of my poor PC.

All parts are present in Raalte (long way from where I live) and now I'm trying to get them to ship the PC despite the fact that the last 26eu (had to swap a component) are not "paid" . . . damn bank transfer delays!

So if I get really lucky they'll ship today, which means sometime between Saturday and next Tuesday I'll get the joy and pain of the new system build. (Usually takes me 2 or 3 days to get stable with a new machine . . . no promises as to my presence!)

Not lucky. They really will not ignore 26eu for a day or two.

Bastards. :)

Going to ask Mica if she will take a road trip with me. I'm betting on no, but it never hurts to ask.

Drove out to the store (140 kilometers or so, a few of which were in a traffic jam) on Saturday afternoon and picked up all the parts. Started building the new system around 4 or 5 and was completely installed (windows and drivers at least) by midnight. New record for me. Normally I screw things up badly for a couple of days first.

So I tested EQII. Extreme Quality minus bloom (4x AA is enabed instead) and shadows (they're not that nice IMO and they are the chief framerate dropper) in Qeynos Harbor and it's playable. More playable than Extreme Performance on my old system.

Running at over 100fps in Planetside constantly with all options cranked up +8xAA/16xAS . . . only some minor graphical anomalies that I need to figure out (hotspots don't show up bright anymore and my inventory hot display at the bottom of the screen is very dim) . . . but it runs GREAT.

Finally checked Oblivion. Smooth. Minor stuttering every once in a while but it looks bloody BRILLIANT.

FX7900GTX is sweet. :)

I can sit here with my headphones off and not get irritated by noise from the PC. It DOES make noise, but it makes relatively LITTLE noise. :) (Compared to the HUGE external fan +high RPM cooler I had, this RULES.)

I'm happy. VERY VERY happy. :)
