View Full Version : Recruitment Process

ok, we need to sort out recruitment. paul-o specificly has been waiting weeks to get into the legion for CSS and nothing has been sorted.
i say we go for a voting system just like PS. if there are anj objections say so here. for now im going to make a poll for paul which i expect u all to post and vote in (there's not many of us, we've all played with him).
on related notes: recruitment outside of RL should cease until someone leaves or we encounter problems with making it to matches and such.
inside RL, anyone who is a PS/WoW member gets in to the CSS squad automaticly but may be kicked/banned etc if needs be obviously.
matches im not sure about. on the one hand i dont want ppl being left out because they're not as good as others but i dnt want to constantly get owned in leagues either. friendlies shoudl be open to all definitely but league matches i think need to have a vote on them as to how we pick our team for a macth. we could have a random picking method (like drawing lots) or a rotor or the captain can pick on accouunt of skill or something else.

He's running about with [RL] infront of his name, i thought he was already accepted?

no, he's just a recruit at the moment. but recruits are allowed RL infront of their names i believe. i think it was paradine who said "shouldnt u have RL infront of your name" while he was a recruit and i certainly dont have a problem with that.

Shurly they should get to put [RL] on their name WHEN they get accepted or mebe [RL](r) BoB when their a recruit?

Moved this to meeting hall as this is affects the entire of RL.
As far as CS:S goes and any other fps games that we might end up playing, I would rather see recruits not wearing the tag until they are in.

Having had extensive experience with FPS games (CB eurocup winning clan) you basicly don't invite someone (even as a recruit) until you trust him completely. (cheating being the issue here) Having a T or an R or whatever after the tag is simply stupid, If you don't trust him enough to have him wear the full tag he shouldn't have any part of it.
So don't have them wear the tag until they are fully accepted (by the means of a PS style vote in a private section of these forums)
Why does getting him accepted take so long btw? Isnt he on frequently enough?

It takes so long because we have not sorted out any of the Recruitment policy yet....
I agree "Recruits" shouldnt have the [RL] tag until they are fully accepted...
Im not sure how we can really decide on who should be let in bar from their attitude.
You cant really say who is shit at CS cuz we all have off days.
Atm i honestly think Voting is the only real way we can get a fair opinion from everyone......
Oh and when i comes to recruitment. RL members get into the clan by default. Ex-RL (Those who left before we went MMOG) should be let in with ease....
But that last bit is just my opinion....

Whether we do voting anymore is still up for debate.

No he's on quite often. The reason why we haven't accepted him thus far is that no-one is sure what the recruitment policy is anymore.

Forak, I'm intrested, which game, which eurocup, which clan?
I've taken part in two Eurocups, bloody hard things, Opencups are fun though :)
As for voting either way suits me, but for FPS's the sponsor thing can be quicker as it allows someone to view him/her for a few days quite quickly without any requirements on the legion. A combenation of both may be intresting.

alright:
1. ive watched Paul-o, he's played long enough and is on TS -> if noone has a problem, lets let him in.
2. I think, that we should stick to the voting system. Just stick their name in the correct subforum, and lets all vote.

If you plan on joining leagues/ladders and try to reach the top, recruitment becomes obviously more difficult,as you want skill AND nice guys.
One way to do it is to recruit by just looking at his attitude. If it's a nice guy, good teamplay and understanding of TS is important, aim and movement and other ingame skills can follow. Then set up an official war squad with the most skilled players in the clan (this requires a bit of strong leadership( (democracy doesnt work here either)) ppl might be dissapointed if they don't get to play in official wars)
This in turn really promotes the improvement of skill and tactics as you end up playing with a stable squad, you end up knowing eachother qualities and best positions for example.
Then in training matches and 'fun matches' you let others play for a possible promotion to the official war squad. This might not be the idea behind the CS squad tho, I don't know what your goals are :)

i think that COULD be a good idea, having an A and B team. one plays matches, the other only in friendlies. however, i think both should have unlimited size. so u might get a situation with 10 guys in the A squad and 2 in the B squad. A squad players strive to train and teach the B squad players - the ultimate goal being to have a full A team with no one in the B team.
however, this has 2 problems. the A team might be a simply goal ppl strive towards but it could also turn into an area of resentment with ppl feeling unhappy and unfulfilled because they're not as 'good' as the A team. this could lead to conflict, bad feelings and most importantly ppl wouldnt be having fun.
also, how do we decide who is worthy and who isnt? skill is a very hard thing to measure, especially in CS.
for now though, we need to get some regular training sessions inplace and sort out tactics and such. i say after 2 weeks we play a friendly or 2 and see how we go. then we can decide on what needs to be done and how.

Deciding who should play the hard wars is where most clans get into trouble.. it really only works in a dictatorship kind of way, having one strong leader with an excellent ability to see how a team works best. Select your team, play a war, see where it worked/went wrong. Decide locations to defend attack before the war starts, let ppl specialize in positions, have certain pre-defined tactics (nading, sniping) If you lose a war examine what went wrong.
A strong leader is also whats needed during the war on TS. You can't have 5 ppl shouting orders and where ppl should go. In a perfect world everyone would be silent, leader speaks his quick and predefined orders and others only relay where they see enemies and where they died. (Often you'll have ppl shouting 'OH MY GOD THAT GUY KILLED ME WITH A HEADSHOT THAT LUCKY BASTARD &#@%@&#, try to prevent that ;))

Somone mentioned no one being able to say that they totally suck at CS:S....
(raises hand high) Sorry, but I suck at CS:S, and would never think to harm the Clan by insisting that I get to be on a league. I will join, for backup purposes, but I don't think I could ever achieve the "twitch-e-ness" to be a true league player. But I am MORE then willing to be a target dummy for your practices. I think we should have an Elite squad lead by the best guy. And the best guy in an FPS-environment is the one with the most kills.
We start it up with someone declaring themselves best (or being nominated) and then anyone who seeks to lead the Alpha squad must take down the leader in a convincing way to the group. No hard feelings, nothing personal, just tough competitive gameplay.
As far as getting the recruitment process going, I think we are working on it in another thread. So check that one out.
Cheers,

Yea forak, TS is a nightmare.
In |R| (My MoH clan), we simply operate on a first come first server basis, I.e. If theres 5 of us waiting for a match than those 5 get to play, anyone else can play if someone else whishes to drop out after the first half (Read: Map). This generaly works as we all play for fun, and usualy we have a strong team out at one point or another.

out of interest:

Obejective Default (None of this realism pish), with |R|, we also have a messabout clan which is us just differant names where we generaly just play random games we wouldent normal consider. Maps are generaly Hunt/V2/Bridge (Obj maps), size is usualy 5v5 although depending on numbers can go up to 7v7...
