We are raiding Maiden's Gulch in Lavastorm on 8MAY at 20:00CEST. (That means 19:00 for you Island dwellers!) This raid is mandatory for all 49+ individuals who do not have the Draconic Language quest started. If you are CLOSE to 49, get levels in the next couple of days! :)
The end result of this quest is VERY nice for everyone so we need to focus on getting it done in groups as people level. If you are 49+ and logged in on Monday evening it is expected (barring a meteor falling on your house) that you be available.

I love this quest line. It's probably extremely gimp now, but it's a great way to get lots of people working together with lots of shiny things at the end of it.
I want the shiny thing!

As a note, due to me being a forgetful bugger I am not going to be online this evening. Instead I will be listening to lovely Irish music.
1) The raid is for 12 people 49+. Slots go to those who have NOT done the raid before. Afterwards they should be filled by individuals going along to help. First slot should go to a higher level tank (Demion has volunteerd) and following slots should be mixed healing and DPS as needed.
2) The mob inside MG is a drakota with a couple of adds. The Inquisitor Drakota heals and CAN be taken down first if the raidforce is worried about having the fight drag on too long. (It can lengthen the fight to leave it alive.) It is however possible to just burn the main Drakota down and then the adds.
3) The mob has a VERY nasty AOE that it can use. This means if you get hit with it you are going to be hurting VERY badly. Healers will need to be using noxious dispel (AOE dot) and group heals. It can also single target nuke for more HP than any tank in the guild has. The best plan is to have a backup tank named.
4) This mob is NOT pulled. The entire raidforce runs at the mobs together (tank grouptaunts on the run) and stands as close as possible to the tank. Healers and casters too! The reason for this is that the mob tends to NOT use the AOE if you do this. Standing away from the mob is very very bad. Don't do it. Or I will hear about it and become cranky. :)
5) Don't fall in the lava. This is just dumb. Obviously. :)
Once this raid has been completed you must hail the quest mob! After that it's a series best read about on eq2,ogaming.com. (To Speak Like A Dragon, Fire and Ice, and Deception.) Make sure you work together to finish these quests! (In specific get to the Fire and Ice step "I must find a way to raise Lady Vox" as fast as possible.)
Good luck!

This is an easy encounter, but that doesn't mean it can't be fucked up. This isn't helped by the absolutely dire information people on spoiler sites write. This has got to be the most "done" raid in EQ2 and I can't believe how much shitty info these spoiler sites have.
Fuckups are usually caused by bad pulls or positioning. It can be pulled if done right but that usually requires the puller to use his brain (dangerous on a raid), and so Khammars suggestion about running up to and turning the mob is best and least likely to fail. The reason for this is the big Drakota's frontal AE (Fire) which must be avoided. And if some people are too far away, regardless of being behind, they got hit by the AE too.
The reason for this is that SOE coders are retards. The encounter is designed so that the drakota has a fire-breath (frontal-conal) AE - which makes sense. The retards at SOE did this by making the AE zone/encounter-wide and running a check on the player's position. If a player is not a few feet behind the mob he gets hit by the AE. This means even if you are miles away you still get hit by the 'fire breath' style AE. SOE needs to hire better chimps, they don't know how to implement raids properly. They are gimped by their contrived 'encounter' system which is the biggest flaw in this game. They need to recruit Prathun from EQ1:p
Er, so anyway... just keep by the big Drakota's tail and everything is fine.
The "big nuke" is usually nil distortion but it can be something similar to ice comet or a fire DD - it's quite random. Back in the day we used a constant barrage of stiffles and stuff like that to reduce the chance of that happening. Not sure if that's still a viable tactic after LU-13. Something else that might be fixed now is the catastrophic effect of killing the adds, the MT instantly loses aggro, the mob turns, and the raid gets hit by the AE. So like Khammar said beating on the main mob is probably the best way to go.
Also confusion comes about entering maidens gulch. They've probably fixed it by now but it used to be possible to accidentally enter a 4x raid instance which is something different and harder. Some spoiler sites give shitty information such as 'you need one person level 50 who hasn't done the quest yet'. Afaik the only requirements are one person in the raid having done the access quest. The access quest takes 5 mins to do.

was an utterly successfull zerg there :D
thanks to all who came along for the Raid and ofr the escort. It showed clearly that even running trough huge masses of aggro mobs, for the bigger part cloaked, might be fun aswell :)
now for all who went to naggy or will be trying to talk to it soon .. make sure
to get ahold on all those runes you'll need for the next step!
ASAP .. meaning in the next few days so we all can do the futher raiding in Fire and Ice with a pure RL raid. i think we might have the levels; we definitley will have the numbers!
concentrate on gettng those runes please!

Hi there!
Thanks to all who helped yesterday night!
I think all who got the quest last night went down to Nagafen and got the update.
At Ogaming you can find the locations for the runes (http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/quests/ToSpeakAsaDragon.php).
Make sure you get all the easy ones by your own, so we need no group to get it from Antonica or Stormhold. For the Obelisk or CT we should form one or two groups to get them fast.

If you have any pupu, fling it now!

Good job guys! I was really happy to log on last night and hear about the success. Not that I had expected anything less, but I was really pleased that the turnout was so good!
PLEASE make sure you do just as Frosch suggested and get all the easy runes on your own. Nek, TS, Qey, SH, FG, FP, RE etc. are all very easy.
