So, what precisely do we need in order to raid at Tier 5? (NOTE: T5 raidmobs tend to be level 49-55.)
Main Tank - Fighter Subclass - Someone who is going to stand there and take nasty hits.
(Optional, varies by raid tactic) Backup Tank - Fighter Subclass - The person who steps in when the Main Tank goes down, or when there is a need to split encounters.
Main Healers - Priest Subclasses - Two or three healers that are in the Main Tank group and are responsible for using reactives/wards/regens on the MT.
Backup Healers - Priest Subclasses - Healers for additional groups whose main responsibility is healing the MT or BT. Secondarily they are tasked with the care for their own group and perhaps rezzing.
Rezzers - Various Subclasses - Generally a duty handed to Paladins and Dirges as their in-combat rezzes are very good, they are responsible for getting fallen members of the raidforce vertical ASAP.
Powerplant - Illusionist - Without power regen it is literally impossible to defeat many encounters. While being very high level in comparison to the encounter does help, the Illusionist is our ONLY raidwide constant power generator and is thus required for "real" (at or above average level) raiding. Within a specific group there are other classes who provide power regen. (Bards!)
Main Assist - DPS Subclass - The individual that the entire raidforce MUST assist when doing damage. This allows the tank(s) to choose targets as needed without worrying about DPS flying all over the encounter.
DPSers - Scouts, Mages, other Fighters: these folks do what they can to produce STEADY amounts of damage as directed by the Raid Leader(s). At times this means all out to reduce the size of the current encounter. At other times it means draining power equal to mob health. (DPSers at 80% power mob at 80% health, linear!)
What do we have?
Tanks:
Khammar (61Ber)
Dodgerius (56Mon)
Demion (51Pal)
Haawkings (49Gua)
Ralgha (49Mon)
Frosch (47Pal)
Nayaf (41Gua)
Healers:
Pumilie (57Tem)
Nokerri (56Fur)
Fleokih (50Fur)
Wahn (45Mys)
Getchameds (44Fur)
Aglaia (44Fur)
Powergenerators:
Wirrwarr (42Tro)
Peebo (39Ill)
Caster DPS:
Bagpuss (60Warl)
Heidegger (49Con)
Rammstein (42Wiz)
Rodir (39Wiz)
Melee/Ranged DPS:
Valdar (55Ran)
Soule (54Swa)
Jharek (47Swa)
Pijula (45Ran)
Falk (41Swa) [PC down - ETA unknown]
Strongjaw (39Ran)
Ludi (39Swa)
26 members (25 if you count the fact that Falk is MIA until his PC is fixed) are listed here. Raids are (mostly) 24 man. This means we need 95%+ attendance to fill a raidforce. Minimum level for T5 raiding is 45. Even at 45 there should be no experience expected. If the mob doesn't gray, nobody will mentor on a raid.
So, what do we do? Get everyone 45 (preferably 49) or higher as soon as we can.
Trouble spots? Too many tanks, not enough casters, healing inadequacy . . . nothing unusual then. :) When my old guild did Darathar (big T5 dragon) on Runnyeye we had way too few DPS classes. Far too many tanks. But we did it, and he's the hardest T5 mob generally done. We *can* and *will* take down T5 targets soon.
Focus on experience! That means EVERYONE because the higher level folks help immensely by bluing or greening (even graying) out the raidmobs. That's not saying do NOTHING that progresses other things, but remember to make headway on that orange bar!
