Alright, guys - I've been talking to my brother (who's an officer in the military) and he showed my some stuff that I think we should try apply to RL.
THE SOLDIERS TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. No regrouping if you're moving or on the objective and always stay between 5 and 10 meters from another soldier.
2. Always have permanent viusal or acoustic connection with the highest ranking officer.
3. Either walk, run or crouch.
4. If you're moving without suppressive fire, do not be in the open for more than 5 seconds.
5. When coming out of cover, you must be ready to fire within 3 seconds.
6. Your silhouette should always be as small as possible.
7. Always have three points touching your gun when giving suppressive fire.
8. If under fire, change your position while still staying in cover.
9. Every grenade being thrown should have cover fire.
10. Always stay hidden from heat detection or scouts if possible.
Now, obviously, since CS is a bit different, not all would apply (7, 10) but I would like to try see if this helps us. For those who are playing competitively, for now I would like eveyone to have a copy of this handy until they are 100% sure of its content.
__________________________________________________ _____________
Also, I would like everyone to have this in mind when they're with at least one more person near them: FFFF.
Find - find target
Fix - put supressive fire on target
Flank - come around the side of the taget
Fire - go for kill
This should be applied to as many situations as possible.
Please post any comments or questions. Please also keep posts to serious input, otherwise I will delete them. Thanks

1. No regrouping if you're moving or on the objective and always stay between 5 and 10 meters from another soldier.
Kind of stupid for CS:S, as half of the time when your at the bombsite/whatever you need to regroup (I.E. Get everyone there).
2. Always have permanent viusal or acoustic connection with the highest ranking officer.
Defunct point, teamspeak kills any need for this.
3. Either walk, run or crouch.
Considering those are the three options of the game, it hardly makes sense.
4. If you're moving without suppressive fire, do not be in the open for more than 5 seconds.
Again, CS is not real life, and one man can lay down his own supressive fire far more effectivly than real life. However in general it works.
5. When coming out of cover, you must be ready to fire within 3 seconds.
Again trying to apply to much Real Life to CS:S, remember, you are able to fire constantaly on CS:S, you dont have to lower your reapons to be near a wall or whatnot.
6. Your silhouette should always be as small as possible.
Not Applicable to CS:S, no night fighting, shadows are automaticaly made in the game, and only crouching makes you smaller, and thats a no brainer.
7. Always have three points touching your gun when giving suppressive fire.
Not sure what this means.
8. If under fire, change your position while still staying in cover.
No Brainer.
9. Every grenade being thrown should have cover fire.
Having cover is good, but unlike Real Life, you're less likely to be incapatated by doing this.
10. Always stay hidden from heat detection or scouts if possible.
Heat Detection is pointless for CS:S, Scouts would = Other players, and therefore a nobrainer.
To many Real Life situations trying to be applied to CS:S, some work ok with it, others not so well.

1. No regrouping if you're moving or on the objective and always stay between 5 and 10 meters from another soldier.
Correct, in the open. But when forcing entry, you muct go from being 3 meters apart to suddenly being an inch apart in a second or 2 so u can pile in quick - this applies to rushing.
2. Always have permanent viusal or acoustic connection with the highest ranking officer.
TS does this
3. Either walk, run or crouch.
I think he means: Don't stand still unless ur crouched. Correct, but I would change it to: Either walk, run, crouch or stand behind cover.
4. If you're moving without suppressive fire, do not be in the open for more than 5 seconds.
Replace suppresive fire with 'cover'. You don't need to actually be shooting as there may be no visible enemy.
5. When coming out of cover, you must be ready to fire within 3 seconds.
Dosn't apply to CS
6. Your silhouette should always be as small as possible.
Correct. Think in 3D. How will you appear from the various positions an enemy might inhabit. Plan a 'line' that will take you through as much cover as possible while staying low and away from the sky.
7. Always have three points touching your gun when giving suppressive fire.
Does not apply to CS
8. If under fire, change your position while still staying in cover.
Well, duh
9. Every grenade being thrown should have cover fire.
Correct. Pistols are good as they don't really waste ammo but keep their heads down. Gunfire will distract an enemy and stop him taking cover.
10. Always stay hidden from heat detection or scouts if possible.
"Always stay hidden" would be better. Although it's very important to stay hidden from (steyr) scouts :P
F4 is a good reminder. I remember i tried so hard to get us to flank in PS, never got u schlags to do it tho lol. FLANK! FLANK! FLANK! FLANK! (apart from supply lines, which do not apply to CS, FLANK is the MOST important key to any military victory, be it taking down a terrorist in a house, or invading a country)

Regarding silhouette vasq, unless I'm mistaken there is no sun/moon/skyline in the same way, alot of it is graphics related, and as on alot of the levels it revolves around indoors, there is even less of a skyline...

1. No regrouping if you're moving or on the objective and always stay between 5 and 10 meters from another soldier.
This applies in general. Grenades have a radius of around 5m and its better to be spread out so no more than 1 person gets hit. Obviously when going through choke points, its different, but thats a whole new command list.
2. Always have permanent viusal or acoustic connection with the highest ranking officer.
Well, yeah, TS does defunc this, but I wanted to post it anyway.
3. Either walk, run or crouch.
By this, I mean that you should be quick with your movements - kinda hard to translate from french.
4. If you're moving without suppressive fire, do not be in the open for more than 5 seconds.
I think that this can be applied - if you need to move to another cover, then move quick - just so you dont make long dashes across an area.
5. When coming out of cover, you must be ready to fire within 3 seconds.
This CAN be applied - don't reload before coming out of cover - i've seen many RL do it before.
6. Your silhouette should always be as small as possible.
Vasq is right fluf - always give yourself more space than you need - your body does poke out a bit. By silhouette, i dont mean againt the sun or anything, I mean from behind boxes etc.
7. Always have three points touching your gun when giving suppressive fire.
As I said - this has nothing to do with it, I just thought that it would be nice to have 10 commandments instead of 9.
8. If under fire, change your position while still staying in cover.
Some people dont. This also makes sure that the enemy doesnt see where you're moving.
9. Every grenade being thrown should have cover fire.
This is also good becuase it makes the enemy duck and not see that there's a nade coming at them.
10. Always stay hidden from heat detection or scouts if possible.
Obviously heat detection isnt in the game, but scouts are, so you should make sure they dont see you.
As for F4, yeah, i try my best to use it but now we should be able to use it more.

A sillhouette dosn't need to be against the sun, moon or anything in paticular. It is an outline created by contrast between an object anda background of a contrasting colour, light or pattern. The sky is the worst thing to be sillhouetted against, but a wall, crate or anything else is also bad.
I'll photoshop a little visual tutorial this evening, but for now, look at this:
Man in foreground is in a good position (the holding the RPK) but the others are sillhoueted and easy to see. Imagine, the ground is a green hedge and the sky is a white wall. See?

This applies to many levels - especially aztec and cobble.

You have to be quik!, but you can walk if you want to. :D
Sry, couldnt help myself.
I thought it ment that if you are standing, eg if on a patrol and you stop to read the map or whatever, you should kneel down. This is youre harder to detect and hit, if spotted. If youre moving youre already harder to hit... Could be wrong ofcourse :)

A few simple rules...
1-) Dont ever spray unless your at close range and if your far from the enemy fire 3-4 burst with ak/colt whilst pulling down slightly to counter the recoil...With the ak pull down and slightly to the left...and if your gonna spray from close range make sure the x-hair is below the body of the guy your shooting...not sure how it is source but this is pretty neccesary in 1.6....also with colt long distance you have to pull down slight to counter the recoil spraying with colt is much easier due to less recoil...
2-) before you peek make sure you have a teammate flash first...it be quicker than you flashing then taking out your gun again...and with your positioning always try and set yourselves up so that there is a crossfire i.e. one person outside dd at d2 whilst the other guy in on that platform thing at the back of the bombsite..
3-) this is a no brainer but whatever...dont reload as soon as you kill someone if you have more than enough bullets..you never know someone might be around teh corner and if they hear you reload your good as dead...
4-) sound is vital you hear the slightest of sounds make sure you tell the others where it came from...
5-) if you get spotted then move....trying to get into bombsite b and get spotted/flashed/naded then get out of there because if the other team manages to rotate before you actually penetrate the bombsite then 7 out of 10 times you will lose that round....take your time while doing tactics...you've got 2:30 to get that bomb down so take it nice and slow...as ct's never push unless the t's have been spotted by one of your teammates....e.g. if a ct spots a t in mid on d2 then the ppl in b can slowly push upper tunnels but dont forget to flash/nade.
6-) as t's using smokes is vital it doesnt really matter if you cant see through but it will slow down the ct's since there the ones that needs to get through that smoke to defuse the bomb...e.g. make sure you smoke the ramp bit leading down to ct spawn at bomb site a on d2 and also short a once youve gotten the bomb down since there is 5 of you use 2 for each areas and keep 1 reserve just in case....ct's can use smokes as "fakes" for example...youve run out flashes? you can trick your opponent by throwing a smoke and rushing immediatly afterwards...if your opponent is pretty nooby then 9 times out of 10 he'll turn around in which case you shoot em in the back....not sure if you can clearly seen what kinda of nade is thrown in source but in 1.6 you can see the nades colours etc along with the different type of sounds they make when they hit the ground so in other words a skilled player wont fall for this
7-) also a simple tactics for t's if you lost pistol round...have everyone buy deagles but no armour and 3 ppl buys flashes whilest the other 2 buys nades then rush short a but make sure you flash at least twice and maybe one nade depending if you hear any noise and try an be as quick as possible since if you wait you'll get naded...you can also do this for a b rush but short would be better since its close combat and there arent many places to camp at short a as opposed the numerous amount of boxes etc at b.
what the hell why is there a working at mcdonalds thing under my name ¬_¬ its burger king damnit...
