Do we have to redownload the WoW client or can we keep on using the Closed Beta client?

The closed beta client should be just fine.
The reason why we had to redownload it all before (thanks Iron :) )wasn't that they had created a new patch - it was because they had imbedded all the language support stuff for the French/German versions.

I believe we'll be running same version when final beta starts, and even if there is a patch ... just patching the game should be sufficient.

The client up for download now is labelled 1.1.2, which is excactly the same number we downloaded a few weeks ago when the language specific version were introduced. Should be no reason to dl again.

If you want to make absolutely sure, try starting the download and point the dl'er to the location of the last version you downloaded (assuming you didn't delete after install) If it says 'complete' and only uploads, you have the correct file.

The Final Beta hasnt started yet, but you can already start to download the 2.5 gig instaler whit the WoW download client (0.5mb).

In short:

*Final Beta will soon start.
*If you already have the Euro closed Beta WoW client you dont need to download anything :).
*Use the WoW download manger to download the clinent.
( If youre pc chrash eg you can just restart the down and select the same folder to continue where you left off. )
* There hasnt been a Char wipe from Closed Beta to Final Beta, but... which hasnt been confirmed but Blizzard isnt stupid... there will be a Char wipe from Final to Release.

World of Warcraft European Final Beta Test Starts Now

Following the rapid sell-out of the European pre-order campaign and the successful start of the localised Closed Beta Test, we are happy to announce that the first phase of the European Final Beta Test of World of Warcraft starts now, in English, French and German. The first phase of the Final Beta Test will allow access to a select group of players: those who attained a beta key through the official Blizzard pre-order campaign, and current Closed Beta testers.

The first phase of the Final Beta Test will also allow the testing of the World of Warcraft localized server infrastructure under heavy loads. As soon as system stability allows, the second phase of the testing process will begin and more players will be added into the Final Beta Test. We will make every effort to accommodate all requests for beta accounts but there is always the possibility that we will be unable to meet demand, and we therefore strongly encourage motivated players to register an account as quickly as possible once the second phase of the Final Beta Test begins. PvP/PvE is your choise :) You can read the pro's and con's in the discussion threads here. In short PvP is attack and be attacked at all times outside of your homeland. PvE is attack or be attacked whenever you like it to happen.

I finally managed to remember my username and password, and so far have a level 3 Dwarf hunter on "Beta Server" I assume thats a PvE server... Where is everyone else? What is a good class to take?

I wandered into a bad area that is full of rock-something backbreakers that are a lot more powerfull and can run faster than me. Unfortunately they are right on top of my corpse.

Any suggestions?

After you respawn at the graveyard, wait a few seconds and a white ghost/spirit will appear (Spirit Healer) Talk to him and accept the dialogue options, this will turn you back to life at the graveyard instead of in the place you died. This does have some negative sides to it but they are not important in low levels :D

The Second Phase is Getting Close!

We are finalizing the preparations for the second phase of the Final Beta and will soon update the Account Creation pages. A large, limited number of players will be added into the game on a first come, first served basis when the second phase starts. To register an account, you will need a generic authentication key, which we will supply on this page, so stay tuned for updates during this week.
To support even more players, we are pleased to announce a new data centre in Frankfurt which will be ready for the start of the second phase. This new centre, together with the existing centre near Paris, will be dedicated to World of Warcraft and will enable us to provide additional Realms for the European Community.

we play on Beta PVP and Beta Server or so.
its only 1 or 2 weeks left on the beta so i suggest you try out as many classes as you can.
not enough time to play one char up above lvl40 anyways.

better play 2 or 3 classes up to level 20. there you should get a good sense how they are played.

- If you use the Blizzard download manager, get NetLimiter (http://www.netlimiter.com/) and set you upload to 10kb/s
- if you want to use your bitorrent client, get the torrent link from this site (http://www.wowtorrents.de.vu/)

Try using the .torrent with a proper BT downloaded like Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) and set up port forwarding on your router (if you have a newish router, Azureus might even be able to do it for you).

The servers will be taken down this evening at 10pm (Paris time) for maintenance and patching. This process is expected to take a few hours and the servers and official forums are currently scheduled to be back online early Saturday morning. Once the servers are back up, existing testers will be able to download the patch and play. At the same time those players that have been able to successfully create an account for the second phase will also be able to access the game.

Patch Notes - 29/01/05


Paladin
Seal of the Crusader: Fixed a bug where damage per swing was increasing instead of decreasing when Seal of the Crusader was active. This resulted in a dramatic increase in damage per second (DPS) that was unintended. The tooltip for the spell displays the intent of the spell:

"Fills the Paladin with the spirit of a crusader, granting additional attack power. The Paladin also attacks faster, but deals less damage with each attack."

The overall increase in DPS from Seal of the Crusader should only result from the increase in attack power and not from the increase in attack speed. We understand this is a significant decrease in the power of this spell, but was a necessary bug fix to ensure both overall game balance and the viability of different Paladin Seals.


hmm so far seal of the crusader was my only good attack seal.
wonder how i gonna do damage now.
only other damage seals are seal of righteousness and seal of command, or ?
SoR does no damage and SoC has a pretty low proc chance.
maybe judge of crusader and then SoR...

Judgement of crusader + Seal of Righteousness works just fine, prolly going to be better then seal of crusader alone now.
You usually get double righteousness holy dmg if you got the judgement on.
Same for the judgement of rightenousness, does double dmg if you got a good enuff judgement of the crusader on.
Then we got seal of justice, command, light etc etc.

Might open up better viability for holy and or protection builds.

only problem with judge of crusader + seal of right is the ~300 mana it costs me at lvl 37 while i only have ~1500 mana.
its a bit expensive for only 30seconds

paladins allready kills pretty slow.
SoC was the only seal to increase your meager dps a bit.

lets see how it works. maybe its not too bad.


btw holy shield is a god send and blessing of sanctuary even more.
50% damage reduction due to armor and shield and additional 10 damage less from any source at lvl36 and less damage for blocks.
put on retribution aura (12 damage everytime they hit me)
put on blessing of sanctuary (-10 damage every hit)
run into 5 lvl33-35 melee mobs (the faster they attack the better)
put on holy shield every 10seconds (they get 50 damage everytime you block + 10 dmg if you have an iron spike)
watch the holy damage rain
heal after combat
enjoy the fast exp

on big enemies judge seal of crusader and put on seal of righteousness.
-> increased righteousness damage and increased holy shield damage.
(too bad retribution aura isnt increased)

for me this is the fastest way to level atm.
tried out 2hander (you take too much damage) and divine favour (you safe a lot of mana but your time to kill sucks).

UPDATE eventually got .torrent to work was windows firewall all along which was causing the problems.
Dowloading STILL to slow really can't be arsed anymore to DL , just have to buy it and wait for it to go LIVE maybe ??

As for choice of class: Take whatever you think looks like fun. Playing a class you don't like much just to play whatever the legion "needs" is probably not going to be a whole lot of fun in the long run :/

I left it DL for nearly 20hrs and only 35% done using Azureus m8 ,still going to take at least 1 day.
