Okay duder, here's the Bread solution to fixing your codecs.

Track down a program called Gspot Codec Information Appliance. Sounds fishy. It isn't. What it does is it tells you what codecs are required for a given media file. When you know what the codecs are ninety nine times in a hundred you just google the full name of the codec and you'll get a link where you can find a download.
