GRRRR

I started playing Rome: Totl War again and I'v got abotu half way through the campagin. I saved the game and clicked the end turn button. It plays through all the other empires doing their thing but just as it returns to my empire, the screen goes black for a second and then I get sent back to desktop.

I tried moving units around and changing which city was the 'last used' (and therefore the starting point of the next turn) and so on. I've also saved the game after donig these things and loaded from that save but it still does it.

Help?

Great. I patched the game to v1.3 to see if that would help, now I can't even load a saved game! It starts to load the map and then it returns me to the main menu!

You can't play saved games after patching, it changes stats etc.

There were a few known crash bugs in the game when it released mate (I should know, I was the Producer on it!), and I would say that your best bet is to start from scratch - very sucky I know, but there's really very little choice.

The other thing you could do, is use a cheat to enable all the factions and start with one of the others - granted, it's still starting from scratch, but at least it would be different.

Go for germany. easy as pie to conquer when playing with Brutii and gotta love the axe weilding maniac approach, even if it doesnt work on the multiplayer :D

Well, I have an installation on my other hard drive with my old saves (unlocked other factions) and I just copped them to the save dir on my new installation on this hard drive. I can reinstall the game on this hard drive and copy the saves across. Whether a fresh install will fix the crash, I doubt but I suppose I can try.

By the bye, I had the msot amazing thing happen the other day. I was attacking this Gaulish town and I had a single unit of cavalry auxillia (javelin throwing light cavelry with shortswords as a back up) left. That's one man on a horse, on his own. Thinking to sacrifice him and perhaps cause some confussion in the enemy ranks I charged him into a full unit of barbarian swordsmen. The guy threw his javelin, and charged in. He cut his way right throgh the entire unit! So I charged him again and he di it again. I did this several times, destroyng a good third of the entire unit before he was killed. A true Roman hero!

The games been out for a while now and still he rubs it in that he was working on it.

You work for the devil, the devil I say! :p

Well, at least, the Devil if it comes to corprate communications, EA beats it on the games front :p, all Activision has is a web-form that is most likely designed to get you to jump through as many hoops as possible and has the original person give up with a headache, don't you just love it? :p

Why? Its gonna be shit.... why do you think its so late? They cant do what they promised... and when it does come out it will smell just like "The Game we shall not name". Lets just pray it doesnt do to them what "The game we shall not name" did to John Romero.

Im sure there is a statue somewhere dedicated to games like this

"The Game We Shall Not Name" - Die JOHN!
"Duke Nukem Forever" - RIP Duke, Hope its good in Un-Released Heaven.
"STALKER" - So good at Stalking that we never even saw it.
