I know i've posted about this before, but i just wanted to see if there are any changes (which i know there has been).

Currently, i have an Alienware 'portable desktop' ie big fuggin laptop.

got some good specs:
P4 3.2 Ghz
1024 mb RAM
Radeon Mobility 9700 128mb

Now.

This is the 4th fook up (see post about network card) that my computer has had, and im getting pissed off. I would have a desktop, but I move around too much, and like to have my games with me. I also will be shipping off the the US soon for uni, so it would come with me there.

What do you guys reckon i should do? Should I get another Alienware (ie replacement), should I get my money back and get another laptop (www.voodoopc.com (http://www.voodoopc.com)), should i get a portable?

if i get something completely new, I would like to get PCI-e.

GA the main problem is you are trying to play games on something that is not well suited to gaming. Laptops are unpredictable machines and break easily. You might be better off considering getting a small form factor pc like a Shuttle, which will have regular pc components that you can replace easily should they fail (or upgrade).

I understand you move around a lot, but some of these PCs come with a carrying rucksack, and you can quite easily take a keyboard and mouse with you.

The main problem would be the screen, but you can get fairly small high performance TFTs that would be easily transportable (get one with a VESA mount and you can seperate the screen from it's stand). Shops that sell LAN Party gear sell carrying cases and so on.

As for buying gaming laptops I can't help you and I doubt the majority of the people here can. Unfortunately :(

1. macs are far better than PCs in nearly all ways. They are built like gods, they never crash, they never get viruses, the software all works together and they dont take 6 years to make a new OS.

2. macs dont play CS/PS/BF2.

3. Ill have a look at some slim form - you got any good websites fusion?

4. New PCIexpress laptops are coming out this week, 256mb Nvidia/ATI cards. 2 gigs ram. 3.6 ghz... mmm

Slim lightweight laptops are generally low power machines with specially designed processors. No.
