bugger bugger bugger...

i was playing wow and talking to bagpuss when suddenly my whole computer freezes. Sound and video and even my mouse. I restart my computer and after the computer logo, i get something unexpected. the 'Nvidia' boot program says its running and then it is followd by some numbers and symbols. There is a little loading thing, which i wait for, and nothing happens. I hit esc and the screen goes black then writing appears saying that it cannot boot off the cd that I have in the drive (Tribes Vengance). So i remove it and hit enter and it says the same thing.

Fuck.

I restart my computer and go into bios and put it back to how it should be (incase anything changed) and then restarted. First comes the computer logo and then comes the "failed to shut down properly" mumbojumbo. It asks as normal if i want to load Safe Mode or start normally. I try to load safe mode and then it starts loading and then freezes. The same happens when I try loading normally.

I'm gonna leave my computer off for a bit hoping that god will fix it for me, but in the mean time, would someone please help?!

thanks.

Try running the windows xp or which every Windows you got from cd. It should fix what every wrong.
Trying to remember how it gose.
Go in to bios and set CD to boot 1st and save.
Cant remember if it go to CD on start or you have to press F10 then tell it to boot from CD.
When you get to CD boot from windows on CD, should be able to repair.
Thats what I had to do one time do it from Wnidows CD.
Maybe someone can back this up on how you run it from Windows CD.
Sorry hope that might help some how.
Remember after you done all this go back to bios and set boot from HD.

Wont work if the HD is fried, as I kinda suspect is the case here...

His HDD isnt fried.... it wudnt work otherwise.

Boot up with a WinXP disk.

Select Repair Console

At prompt type CHKDSK /F (I think /F is the right command switch)

That should check your HDD for corruption and stuff, and hopefully correct the problem.
