So, i've been thinking, and I think that the global, well, galactical map should be more realistic. I think that all of the planets should be on an orbit. I think that these orbits should be on a timed rotation, and at certain points, I think that some conts, lets say forseral, should not have a direct link to lets say the NC Sanctuary. I've done a little sketch, of what i think the orbits should be like. Here it is :)


As you can just make out, these green little balls are planets. The circle that they sit on is thier orbit. The thing in the middle is the sun. Now, dont tell me that there shouldnt be a sun - this isnt real life, becuase you'd be wrong. If they are in space, which they are, there will be STARS, which im sure you know is what the SUN is. If that has the biggest mass, then all objects will orbit it if it.

Each Sanc has an UNBREAKABLE lattice link to their home cont. If the NCs want to get to TRs home cont, then they need to go through another cont to get there, as it already is.

This idea will change game play becusae it will stop certain conts from being used at all time.

Each faction also has a 'secondary' home cont which is the really long circle that goes around the sanc and the sun. This cont will have 90% link to the sanc, until it goes around the sun, where the link will drop.

If the cont is on the other side of the sun, then there is no link.

Home conts will only be linked together when they are facing eachother.

Broadcast WGs will be used, so most conts can connect to otherones.

Each orbit will be different. The Sanc ones should be about a week long, while the otherones should be shorter - determined by the lenght of the circle.

Cool idea, but I would think its tough to code. It would add a level of realism to the game, but what happens to the casual player who just wants to play, and when they log in they can not find a fight? And what happens to instant action? Wouldn't that bypass this idea?

for instant action - don't you hart in? HARTs would work the same since you travel in space.

I've thought about this sort of idea, perhaps from the coding perspective it might be easier to do something like that which is already done with the caves?

That idea would have to be extended a little so that it doesn't entirely block access to certain conts at times, but might be simpler (as most of the mechanics of the idea are already there)

PS, instant action doesn't use the hart, just "Esc I" or "/ia" then teleport to what is supposed to be a fight.

heh that would not be hard to code imo, just need a few new triggers.. only ones who need to work are the 3d artists :)

@ Echor - yeah, but I think if they just have the planets arranged in a astronomical way it would be nice. They can all have the same orbit and then it would just be repeating over and over again - thats fine with me - i would just like to see certain conts directly locked from a factions WGs for like 1 day or something.

@ daymare - my thoughts exactly. Just tell each thing that if it is in direct contact, then you can warp there. that easy :)
