When you go to install, it ask you if you also wont to look on internet try that.
On xp windows it will install on what it thinks is best dont mater if its the right one for the card and it still do the job just like before.
Also look on soundcard for name then do search on net, you should find who made it and a link for downloads.
If non of the above works and you got a built in soundcard like a lot do, reboot computer and bring your bios up. Under "Peripheral Configuration"
your see OnBoard **** Audio set this to Enabled to use onborad sound card for now till you can fix it. Where the **** is name on onborad sound.
See if onbord sound is disabled your not be able to use. Also just a idel with out looking if you disable it try and install sound card again.
Hope this helps and if your able to can you give name of soundcard if all dont work.
