how do i find it out?

i have a radeon 9800pro with the standard catalyst drivers

i was playing BF2 and the performance got progessivly worse.

i was thinking my card my be overheating (even though it has a fridge attached to it)

If it's hot it'll not get worse it'll crash. On the GPU anyway. Check your CPU temperature. A lot of CPUs have an in-built safety feature called throttling, especially on Intels, this reduces CPU power when the chip gets hot. If you can find a program called ThrottleWatch that'll tell you if it's happening.
