I was thinking of upgrading my CPU(+FAN),RAM and MainBoard. Maybe a Raptor 10.000rpm hd aswell if i got some money left:)
atm moment i've got:
- AMD XP 2500+ Burton
- Uhmm. CPU FAN...
- 1024mb ddr pc2700
- Some Abit Mainboard with KT400 (dont remember model).
- Radeon9800PRO (Which should do for a while).
Got about 6000kr (thats about 500 GBP) for upgrades.
Im thiniking about at least have 1MB cache on my CPU, and have DDR2 PC5300 or something like that (not sure what i can have or not have, depending on which MB is bestest:P). On Mainboard i dunno if via or nforce chipset is better.
But anyhow, how you guys will help, used to be upated on pc hardware, but had other things on hand and time just flew and suddenly i got loads of new shit i dont even know how to put together:p ok...not quite...but u know what i mean :D :p

Unless your planning on getting the current revision of PCIe as an upgrade then i would wait 6 months and get PCIe when a) its cheaper b) its more supported....

about the PCIexpress - is it any good? I'm buying a new comp and i may get PCIe, only if its worth it. (i have unlimited funds, ie: £3000)

PCIe is quite probly the biggest thing sinze breaking the 1Ghz clock cycle.
Trouble is... at the moment its not really cheap and its still in its infancy.
Personally i would wait 6-8 months for it to become more of a standard on MoBos and let them work all the kinks out.

Ok if you wanna play everything @ 200fps i'll go you some options.
AGP: get a amd 64 3500+ or better, 1 gig of good ddr 400 (corsair or ocz) a 6800gf/ultra or x800xl/xt, 74gb raptor (primary ide) an av8 s939 mobo, a branded psu higher than 400w psu, creative audigy s/c.
PCIe: firstly you want an sli mobo, the deluxe chipset is best, and there are strong statements coming out of the dfi camp. you'll need a really powerfull psu, @ least 500w. then you'll want 2 6800gt's in sli config, 1gb of good ddr, 3500+ amd64, audigy s/c, and lots and lots of money! :)
