I'v been wondering about the first room and how to do it after the hotfix.
alot seems to prefer the "stick to the two stairs and go with some CC rotation" when I read diffrent boards.

From what I'v read so far and felt on my tiny leather and lace druid in game:

After you enter the room and the dragon is released from the controler it takes between 30 to 60 sec before the adds starts comming.

The adds spawn at 4 places along each wall and at a none fixed number, but only 1 spawns from each spawnpoint at a time. So the smallest amount that can spawn per spawn seems to be about 2 (one each side) and the top is 8 (4 each side)

There are 3 types of spawns:
1. Orc Spellcaster - has a nasty AoE attack that hits for about 600-700 damage, has a single target bolt that hits for around 900-1000 damage, and is only using fire magic.
2. Orc Figther - only noticed that they hit for about 500-700 damge per swing.
3. Dragon - No idea they never seemed to go for me.

They spawn at a set interval which seems to be about 10-15 sec.

They go stight for the Controller or the Dragon.

And they are all Elites.

The spawns MIGHT stop after ~7mins. It has been reported they use to stop comming after 3mins before the hotfix, and people claim that they simple doubled the timer on the encounter.

Also the egg destroying should be "easy" compared to killing the Dragon himself.
----- An Idea for beating the encounter ------

If you have a full raid heading in at once, 3 MT's picks off the first 3 mobs, while a 4th person runs up and grabs the Orb. The raid sticks togeather and beats up the 3 fast, without spilling mana on the floor.

The raid now moves fast and splits up in 5 teams, teams 1-2-3-4 sets up camp between two platforms and has the job of controlling the adds spawning at those platforms. And the 5th team will be the Orbcontroller and controlling any adds that might get lose.

I dont know if its doable by having something as simple as one of each class present at each of the 4 teams and the remaining people spread out/controlling.

A warrior doing AoE shouts to grab aggro every 10-15 sec, a rogue for a hard punch, a paladin with aoe as offtank, a hunter with pet as back up/strangler control, priest as healer, druid as back up healer / dragon hibernator, warlock as fear controller or maybe with a succubus pet to charm ?, and a mage for taging down one target at a time fast / sheeping.

I think they should be killed like the onyxian warders...

well, I've nvr seen the place in action so I dont know the spawn locations etc. but would it be possible to to place the hunters, healers, warlocks and mages somewhere in the centre an d fight from there?

I dont know, but r u sure the dragons in there can be slept? since blizzard nurfed all our spells :mad:
also, doesnt the warrior have a cooldown on AOE taunt?

Nopes, as said Warrior taunt has a cooldown and its 10 minutes cooldown :/

but then again u will get swarmed by the dragons after 3/4 mins anyways if u dont kill em :)

u can fear kite em for quite a while tho


I dont know, but r u sure the dragons in there can be slept? since blizzard nurfed all our spells :mad:

Yeah u can sleep em but u will get so many its not really doable since u can only sleep 1 per druid and ure gonna have like 30 of them running at the end :)

Well to hell with the warrior aoe shout then, only a max of 2 mobs will spawn at the same time per team, but the question is if it is possible for each team to take down 2 elite level 61 mobs in about ~10-15secs.

Did you guys in IS just stick with the defend the stairs at all cost and hope for the best spawn cycle ? (doubt you did ;) )

Its impossible to take the casters down like onyxia warders. You can have about 8 of these boys spawn in one spawn, and taking each caster of to a side to the raid can bolt them down is not do able as you'll still have to do it with in 10-15sec before the next wave comes. So positioning the mobs away from the raid is not an option.
Also it might be possilbe to place ranged in the center, and draw everything to the center, but there is to far from the far spawns to the center of the room I think to fight/draw them in there.

nah there is a little trick to help clearing alot of mobs very early on, u'll just have to find it out, its only part about the encounter thats fun, so aint gonna spoil it, but god it was annoying when we did not know about it yet lol

hehe never thought you'd tell anyone how to do it, its no fun when you can just read a guide on how to do it and then copy it ... had that when I played Daoc on the euro servers, always 6 months behind the Us servers so we had every strategi known to us before hand :(

But a little trick ^_^ you say ... Guys back to BWL to get wiped untill we find it ...
