I've been using flash for my dissertation, but as some of you know the longer it gets the more complex it gets.
It's focused around a virtual tour of my university campus which includes, general information, different languages, transport links, disabled access, videos and pictures of the area which the user can navigate and much more.
I've made some decent progress on it, but realised there are much more efficient ways of creating this in flash...
My navigation menu currently skips people to different frames relevant to the button they chose. However, this is imbedded within the scene as an independant layer.
What I would like to do is keep my menu as a independant symbol that I can put anywhere in any scene just by dragging it in and placing it in the desired spot. The reason I prefer this method is because the menu slides out e.g. like the start menu on XP, so it doesn't take as much space and doesn't conflict with the other layers of animation.
Problem: If any of you know how....
How do I get the menu buttons (which are in a symbol) to play scenes in another layer. I know there are methods like gotoANDplay(); in actionscript but it does not play individual layers only whole scenes.
I hope this makes some kind of sense to you? I hope some body knows the answer :(
