I already have a few hardisks etc. So these componants is everything I need for a "new tower". Only thing that is maby missing is if the PSU and Motherboard has the old or new power connections. In which case I have to be a bridge, which cant be that expensive :D.

I wouldn't get a 6800ultra since g70 and r520 are coming. g70 isn't meant to be much good (at least seeing the benchmarks) but r520 is meant to be 10k 3dmarks05. These new cards should push down the prices of the x850 and the 6800ultra

other then what the two said above me, thats pretty much what i have, and i'm loving it. Look for the Antec P180 as a case - its very nice with really good cooling.

Youre kinda contradickting youreself in what youre saying. Youre saying that I should not get the ultra, but wait for g70 to come out, Because then ultra prices will fall, for the card you dont want me to buy?
Anyway am guessing you mean I should wait to buy Ultra until G70 is launched. Correct me if am wrong in that asumption.

Personaly am not gonna pay 6000-8000 for a G70 grafiks card that isnt what you would call "next gen". Its not worth the money. Also the prices of the Ultra wont fall that much until a few months after the G70 is relased, not by much anyway.

So am figuring that if I buy a Ultra now. I can upgrade to 2xUltras cheaply after a few months time if I want to since then the Ultra is much lower in pirce. Unlike the G70 will be. So by buying ultra now, I can get 2x Ultra in a few months for the same price as 1 G70 card.

Looks like the price diffrence between a G70 and a 6800Ultra, is just gonna be 600NKO. Taken into the account that you will get 30-45% more power out of the card, am thinking it mite be worth and extra 600NKO.

Think am gonna wait a bit on the 3d card then :)

I'd say get the better graphics card and save some on the CPU. The AMD 3500 is very, very good and you get really good value on it. You pay a lot more for only incremental performance buffs higher up the scale.

well if you are dead set on getting next gen I personally would miss out the gtx all together. R520 will be along in a little while and is said to wipe the floor with g70. Then I guess the g70 ultra will be released and we'll see from there.

I found this as well. Kind of corresponds with all the benchmarks of g70 so far, as in not much better than the x850xt or the 6800ultra.

Yes, you are correct. The 3500 is the most economical, but this time around I want a realy good CPU. As good as my money can buy atleast. :) Theres only one game a "realy" need to upgrade to run better and that is PlanetSide, everything else runs fine. Am not upgrading because of PS. I just have that game in mind when it comes to the CPU :).

Yeah I have also seen the rumor results for ATI R520 (which is 10k+ in 3dmark05), but that card is just too far ahead for the wait. G70 is just around the corner, so I can wait for that since the price wont be suchs a diffrence of what am willing to pay for a 3d card (4500 was the max bud, but 4600 isnt much dif). So unless the G70 is heavely delaed at the last second, I think thats the card am gonna go for.... BUT unlike "the bread" (Hovis:) ) I will be okay whit one card at 7700 score in 3dmarks2005 :D

r520 is slated for release 26th July, which seems fesible.

If you are only upgrading for PS you only need something like a 9800pro or a 6600gt. With a 9800pro I can run everything on max 1280x960 (I can run 1600x1200 but I can't read the text)


In regards to the processor, couldn't you get a 3500 and really good heatsink and overclock it to 2.4Ghz which is the same as a 3800+ heck, I can do that on stock cooling. I don't think £110 is worth spending just for a little bit more performance. I agree with Hovis to save a bit on the cpu. It is not worth it. Just like the fx55 isn't worth it unless you have £2000 to spend on your computer every year.

I already have a ATI 9800pro.
My current system is:
P4 2,4 533FSB ( not standar 800 )
1024 PC3200 (runs at 2700 because of MB)
Gigabyte 8INXP MotherBoard.
Ati 9800 pro 128mb
DvD rom and CD burner.

Am selling this, everything but the harddrive, to a friend of mine for 2500 or 3000 NKO. Havent desided yet :) Is that a fair price?

I'd say it's a good deal. The computer is far better than those that you can buy for £500 here, but that's cos they have the fastest processors, something like 300GB hardrive only 512MB of RAM and Intel Extreme graphics. Failing the intel a 5200 is usually on display.
