Ok this is a pole to show us how much we can have a month..
thus we can find a server occordingly.. i have a sweet server for £110 (see other thread) but if we cant get that a month we can look for somthign lower..
this is just to give an idea on cost's
also this is MONTHLY donations... so if u think u can only give X ammount every 3 months.. divide it by 3.. so we can work it our in occrodance with the server.

Im going to cancel my SWG and EQ2 subs, maybe my PS or Eve sub too. Instead I will contribute those subs to a server.

I will wait for retail before I really go for it.
However i will install the game on my Server and give out the admin Rights for people.
I will have some rules on the server
not more than 8 players during working hours weekeday and we can try the 32 players again but server needs more memory as it is only 1 gig I thought this one had more

6 £ is roughly 10 €, right?
I'll be in for that at least.

we are currently lookign at £88 / month from 9 people donating.. would be best to have 16 since that woudl be the team when the release comes out..
which gives us a fairly large budget and possibly some of the people who said they woudl donate £20+ wouldnt have to donate as much..

I'll just admit I'm a bit too lazy so I'll ask here.
What is the requirement of the server in regards to bandwith over time, cpu, memory and diskspace? And do you get a server version with the retail game? So if I install it on a server and I also want to play it on my own rig do I need two coppies?
If you help me with this I might be able to setup a server for it and regarding the payment I have no idea on how to use paypal or anything like it so it'll probably be for free... :D

the requirements are found on the bf2 website iirc. For your server all you need to do is download a file and install it on your server. The file is free, so you will only need 1 copy of the game.

Ok thx. I'll see what I can do. My server should arrive later today and I have to configure it and stuff. So next week at some point. Perhaps wed-tuesday.
They only thing I have to point out here is ofc. that I can't guarantee for how long it'll available, but as things look now I'd say at least two months.
And there's no remote control on it by anyone else than me.
And if the bandwith usage goes through the roof I might have to close it as well.
But ofc. I'll warn you in time so you can get a new server up and running.
Regarding a TS server. I already have that up and running. And it runs smooth. The other day we where 40 ppl in one channel at 19.5 Speex codec and there was no problems at all. Besides the 40 ppl in one channel I guess there was 20+ in other channels.
The info to the server i a secret. So please don't share it in public. I only host it for RL and a few friend. If you don't have the info send a pm to me or some of the other ol' Renegades.
ps. if you want to pay me loads of :D*bling* :D *bling*:D I'll have to figure out a way to do it. :)

nice..
i just done some research on costing of normal servers..
a 64 players server would be:
£145 passworded.. or £155 unpassworded (coudl have a dedicated server for £110 like to run that)
for 32 man server: (which is what we want for matches and such)
£65 passworded and £75 unpassworeded [looking at the above £90 approxx possably incommign can be done]
now we need the passwoded one coz of clan matches.. but an unpasswoded one for when we just wanna shoot noobs..
lol.. private server is best option or u can go for the above (they are jolt/multiplay uk servers)
we can use ironmans uber server until he has to get rid of it thou :D

yes it wil be via paypal.. and i think theres a possability of it being free if iron man uses his server... if not lookign roudn a 20 man server for £32 is out best price thus far but wont know any better prices untill game is released.

can the huge maps still run on 20 player servers

I think in anycase.
If we go for a server we should have a "pre paid"/"cash storage" for 3months min. So the one that is "paying" the bills every month ( usaly the biggest biller doh :) ) for the server dosent have to hassel everyone every month for cash, like it sometimes happend in CS:S.
Like me, which is willing to pay 4-5 Euro or 50 NKR pr month, I trust RLs enought to give my offer for the 3 months (3x50 NKR). So that when the second month starts, we start paying for the next 3 months IF we want to still have a server.
Less hassle for the one getting the bills.

I can cough in £30 - £40 to start with

what we need now is someone to be the guy who is doing all the billing.. and to setup a RL paypal account.
