Yesterday we where doing Lbrs and the Gems for a Quest droped a view times
what surpriced me was that people who do not have the Quest at hand roll for it i talked about it with the groop we where there but it seems that people think its normel just 2 pick up the parts and people who bother 2 keep it in there Quest log miss out on it i know you can pick up the Quest in the instance but i think you have 2 give the one who has the Quest in there log 1st choise on the items that drop for the Quest or what would be the use for even doing Quests couse people will just take it befor you can

just add your comment and i wanna see how others feel about this and if this is normel....

Yeah..that happends alot with these gems. Only one way to prevent it actually is to inform people before you go in about the gems. We usually let only ppl roll on it that alrdy have other gems, so they can complete the quest and never worry about it again.

But there is really no use telling them about the gems after they dropped. (Same problem with stitches in Strat or Blood in UBRS)

In the LBRS runs I've been in, the gems have always been given to the person who was closest to completing the key, and I think that's the best way.

Likewise with the epic armor quests, I think the scales/stitches etc. whould be given to people who actually have the cromatic carapace/hide of the beast.

Yes, I know that carapace. I was in on that roll too and have bunch of stitches and some scales and blood, you were in there for the first time as you said. And I lost the roll on the carapace... :D

Back to topic: things like those gems and scales and stitches and pristine hide should be announced BEFORE the raid goes off in full swing. So that the people know what to do when these items finally drop, instead start asking or hitting the roll button "just in case it's something what I might use". Too late to start and explaining later, when these items drop - do the explaining beforehand. Saves bunch of hassles later.

Now now banadan

this was prior to DKP (ie about a month ago) and I had identified it was something I wanted before I went in. So I rolled which was the system at the time.

As you say you should have talked about it before the instance if you wanted it not after. :)

I know that, I said then too that I wanted it and that I had loads of other pieces, but the random roll system is as it is and I lost the roll, which is pretty usual in my case. One more reason why DKP system is better, I'd already sport that armor piece now if I had got that carapace that day :D

In LBRS, the person with the most parts of the key has priority on the Gem drops for the simple reason that 1 person with a complete key is a hell of a lot more useful than 4 people with just one part each :)

Ideally you should discuss who needs what before the raid starts. Before you get to a boss that drops a gem (Omokk, Voone and Wyrmthalak) decide who is going to be rolling on it to avoid mistakes. It may be polite to pass on the key parts if you have been to the instance less than the other people who need it.

Same applies for Drakki's blood and the Scales/Carapace in UBRS (although in DKP raids you bid as normal for the scales and carapace).

Hope this clears things up :)
