As a reminder, f2p starts next month. (10th I believe.)

With Turbine's experience running DOO f2p for a year (and their success) I suspect they will give LOTRO a good treatment as well.

Couple that with the fact that it's a pretty decent game in general and you're on to a winner for folks looking for a time-waster.

Rumor has it that you'll get 3 packs of content for free (Shire, Bree-Lands, Ered-Luin) and be able to earn/buy/sub for more. With the fact that they have had p2p expansions, it may be subtly different than DDO . . . so far it looks like everyone will have to buy premium classes/level cap upgrades/etc by getting the expansions. Doing so makes you premium even if you let your sub later lapse.
