I followed this game for a while first time round (was meant to be released 2008) and it seemed like it had alot of potential(not the mess i saw in crimecraft).The thing i like most of all is it selects your opponents on skill so if you or your team are skilled it jacks up the number of players you will have to fight there is no standard 6v6 12v12 and so on situations has anybody else seen this game or got any new vid links for it?

at least i find it mighty. like the accessability, bit like PS u can jump in for 30 mins if u havent got more time and run a mission or 2, frg or get fragged and so forth. should suit the casual fragger well i'd say. few issues with the group scaling, u will now and then run into groaups of well org. ppl and get raped but u still have the chance of pulling off what ever u're doing anyway. same thing as ps where all lvls got a chance aginst others even if they're higher than u. very skill based if u like.

the whole atmosphere suits me, reminds me a bit of max payne in multi player mode. if u get outnumbered u can ask for backup and u normally get it fairly quick.
that leads on to som very nice battles. highest i've had was 12vs12 or so. great fight that :)

still a few bugs here and there, wpns being OP'ed and so forth. community seems like a good bunch even tho chat now and then goes barrens mode. guess that cant be avoided :P

this game will definatly steal ALOT of my time on release, it already does in beta (para' calling me an addict). :D

im guessing you guys played pretty early on in the beta then and back then the crashes came thick and fast,but since the last 2/3 patches you probably wouldnt recognise the game.
Its coming on very well and its really one to keep an eye on.

Don't get me wrong, I have high hopes for the game. However I also know people working on the code, and they say it's still quite brittle and that there's a lot of stress in the RTW camp to make it stable enough for release.

It is absolutely worth checking out, but I am absolutely expecting it to be crashtastic

its improved quite a bit in some areas, loading screens, the ui in most areas (although it still dosent feel intuitive and it still isnt great) overall game performance and stability, the fact remains however that in its current state the gameplay is quite shallow, the misisons become repetitive quite fast, the instanced zones kill any immersion, youre driving round a city but have to zone to a new instanced social district for clothes/car etc. It dosent feel like a living breathing city, it feels like a bunch of grey concrete buildings thrown together to make an instanced combat zone.

I just dont see it being more than a 1 month dick around game, I certainly wouldnt pay amonthly fee to play it, when combat and driving is a big step back from gta4.

For once i think the game actually needs some sort of pve to flesh out what will become a very monotonous game. To me the only end game is char customisation / car customisation / weapon customisation, apart from that the apb missions will be very similar to day 1.

Oh and for those just invited i hope you enjoy the game :D

Anyways, of those in the Furious fighters how many are starting fresh? Also which side does everyone want to be as. I figure I'd rather follow the group and enjoy it with everyone else if thats cool. I'm not much a fan of solo play. If everyone is taking part tonight would be cool to sort the sides and that and then see about getting in early on seeing how well the game balances and handles multiple groups and co-ordination.

That and I want to run around in a gang and feel like a big man. :P

Only managed to play it for an hour total. The beta times are really quite bad for me (almost never free on a sunday evening, had some fun on thursday though). Like it, but had some major trouble with video (screen freezes every couple of minutes, resulting in video driver reset). Updated drivers, will have to see if problem persist next time.

Considering the update to the website and the public betas from IGN/Fileplanet I'd take a stab in the dark and say very soon. Not tomorrow, but a few months down the line is a very good possability.

I enjoy the game personally, I think the majority I talk to and play with do as well. But thats just the general impression so far.

Pricing information has been announced. It looks good for those more casual and more regular. Offering either the traditional monthly subs, or PvP play time. Which means you only pay for the time you spend in PvP zones and not Social zones.

So you only say top up 20 hours of PvP time and that could last you a long or short period and you only need to top it up as and when you want. It seems the way foward as far in as MMO pricing goes for those who can't dedicate enough time to a game to justifiy the monthly subs.

You can purchase a retail version of APB either in-store or via digital download at standard retail price (SRP $49.99/£34.99/€49.99). The game includes 50 hours of action game play out of the box plus unlimited time in APB's social districts customising, socialising and trading on the marketplace.

Once your game time is up, you have flexibility to top up your action game time from as little as $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, while more frequent players can switch to a 30-day unlimited package for only $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days.

I played Criminal tonight and lost almost every mission, but was getting some kills in and melting face, but I think that yeah, crims are more random. Especially as I was just answering calls for backup all the time :D

Meanwhile I tend to use the N-Tec. If I've got my eye in I'll use the pump-action shotgun. I wouldn't say it's a skilled weapon, but because every **** is using one you have to be better than every other **** to do well with it, and if I'm missing a lot then I sack it off.

We finished third on the clan mission win streaks that day, and it was that mission that ended our run. End of the day I know our threat levels were good, but four versus three, with one of those guys toting a triple slotted autoshotgun and us having to dig all four out of a defensive position in about three minutes, was just brutal. I'll say this for the matchmaking system, it will challenge you. And by challenge I mean every so often it just fucks your guts out.

We still finished higher than the legit players though, most of the folks at the top pad their stats something crazy with dual boxing. Made a crim on twists account and gave it a go, really fun stuff I have to admit. Always gives me a warm glow inside beating people with much better guns/shit than me. Even got accused of hacking in district chat by one sore bastard after I thoroughly skull fucked him :D

I'm a bit concerned about the staying power the game has, where is the progression curve? I know it will be fun razzing around with a couple of mates but I'm not convinced it will be more than an hour or two here and there kind of game once the initial thirst is slaked.

I mean not to toot my own horn but I'm fucking amazing, and I roll with a fucking amazing team, and even I think it's a bit too tough a lot of the time. I mean being outnumbered as much as two to one on almost every mission gets to be a chore. Getting APB'd constantly again turns into a chore. Also there's getting arrested, which can cause MegaRage™. Part of the problem is a lot of high threat level cops just flat out don't respond to high threat level call outs, prefering instead to take on bounty missions where they have the edge of being able to pick their prey. So instead of an equal number of high threat level players you end up with a zerg of narbs. And these narbs aren't necessarily any worse than the high threat level guys, they just have a lower threat level because they are more up for a ruck and thus tend to lose more.

If there wasn't always a small army of cops chasing me everywhere I'd buy a stun gun and get some payback. Stunning the police and executing them makes them cry hard.

I'm going to be playing. Of course I'm in NA, and they're localizing servers, so I won't see any of you guys.

I did the KttC event and had an absolute blast, eating up about 12.5 hours of AD time over 2-3 days. Added a number of hours of SD time customizing my outfit.

Pretty much didn't have any intention of buying before playing, but once I got in I was hooked.

Going to be playing Crim, and have an apply in for an organization so hopefully I'll not be a lone gunman, but even if I am, I'm sure I'll be having a blast jacking cars and shooting pedestrians in the face. :)

I'm currently sitting in the designer gaining Fashionista levels. Played with my clan for about 2 hours this morning. A bunch of them have already burnt through their 10 hours, but I've only used up a bit less than 3.

Theres a few people playing crims on Patriot. Rolling around with a crew called Rezistance (http://rezistanceclan.forumotion.com). A few PS oldies also there (Mohawk and MostWantedVIP).

Yeah it's going to get panned. Plenty of reasons for panning it, especially if as a reviewer you're only getting your hands on it for a couple of days, but it is what it is. I was fixing to give it a pretty good review but I got retasked to something else so somebody could step up and give it a kicking.

Fuck it though, on balance I wouldn't recommend it to everybody either. I mean I love the game and play it loads but even with that in mind I'd only give it a six or seven as far as joe public goes. If you come at it alone with no experience of the game then you will find it unforgiving and frustrating.

Have to say though a lot of the criticism I've read of it is stone cold retarded though. People slating the driving for instance because it can be a bit unresponsive, because it's server side. So what, they want clientside driving? Really? Cars warping all over the place is the way to go? Stupid bastards. Read one review slating the lack of a cover system. Why the fuck do you need a cover system in a PC game? Get back to your fucking Xbox.

/Facepalm at the Eurogamer review. They gave it to an MMO player who just gave Age of Conan's addon an 8.

This I blame RTW for to an extent. They made far too much of the 'MMO' tag, and APB should not be let anywhere near the kind of softboys that MMO games traditionally attract. Your average MMO player is going to get his face melted in a pure PvP game and reviewers are no exception.

I enjoy it. I'm on trial with TNB, one of the top Criminal clans on Zombie. I have no idea if I'll make trial (some of these guys are stupid, stupid good . . . and have the arrogance that only teenagers seem be inexperienced enough to possess) but while I'm in with them I'm having (mostly, barring rage-outs from people losing threat because a team loses a single mission) a pretty good time.

I made an Enforcer tonight for the hell of it. It's super easy. I'm almost Prestige 5 at this point because hey, it hardly ever decays unless you actually do something that makes it drop . . . which is usually a very minor hit.

LTL weapons are lolpowerful (PIG is instastunned if you hit with both shots and they are nearly instafire) and arresting people is great for taking them out of the action for a prolonged period of time.

Having wallhacks in a bunch of missions rules. It makes life so damned easy.

That said, I'm not gonna switch over to running that character as my main. Too easy.

You can argue the toss all you want but the only one that has ever made any sense at all is "we can make less money than crims" . . . and that is arguably true.

Which would be a legitimate balance point to at least one advantage enforcers have, except for the fact that a) anyone can make money because RTW fails at math and b) money is functionally of only minor use in the long-run.

I've got 400k at only rating 125, after selling APB$ for RTW. (I have made 1500 RTW, mainly on cash sales with a few assorted guns.)

Seriously though, if I want to not have to worry about things I can play my Enforcer. Because my Criminal has to be constantly vigilant, so it's a far more stressful experience.

I always found the "Crims make more money than Enforcers" to be bullshit. I made about the same amount of money as on my Crim. And the real money comes from playing the AH anyway.

The base money thing is roughly true. Without playing with the AH an Enforcer will make a bit less than a Criminal. But we're not talking about a HUGE amount in any case.

All I am saying is that it's about the only "advantage" Criminals have.

Noticed today the most pronounced overpopulation of Enforcers I've yet seen, picking a waterfront district nearly every single one was around 25% more Enforcers. Must be because it's so difficult compared to Criminal play that people roll Enforcer en masse for the safety in numbers :D

Patriot server is where most of the bods are. Hovis and the rest are Crims on there, myself I am Enforcer there tho. Good luck either way playing. Best you get used to using cover and finding the weapons you prefer.
