I've played BF1942 before and I sucked at it royally msot of the time (although once or twice I just pwned everyone and got kicked for cheating but that was very very rare).

I know BF2 will e very different but are there any basic things you should always do and such, like checking your corners in CS or aiming for the neck and so on.

Dont bother aiming for the head... aim straight for the Chest and try to use short controlled bursts... Single shot is not to effective but a burst fire at the chest is very effective.

Practice at flying aircraft all the time... Use the bots to practice for doing air strikes and strafing manuvers.

Tanks tend to be easy to control so you dont have to worry about those, but if you use them, keep moving and dont stop.

I personally prefer the M4/M203 because of the decent rate of fire and the ability to suppress an enemy in an entrenched position.

Tactically its best to team up with a friendly or two. I would never ever go alone as this is a way you get completely bum fucked.

Good flanking attacks usually consist of 2-6 men and as you would expect try to use the terrain to advantage, but there is no need to go rushing headlong, take your time, check your corners and always have the guy at the rear watch your six.

When moving try not to hug Walls at all, one well placed RPG and you toasted! RPGs in the last few BF games tended to have a firing arc so you might have to aim slightly up to compensate for the drag/distance.

And the last thing is, NEVER be afraid to pull back from your position, you will prolly find that you can setup a small ambush if you pull back. I.e. Ludi is defending a small Sandbag emplacement from GA who is shooting from across a Courtyard/Square, Ludi drops back to run around a building behind him. GA runs across the square while firing to keep Ludi supressed. While GA is running over Ludi drops down a claymore and runs out into the middle of the road running away as fast as he can, GA rounds the corner and sees Ludi dart round a building just before he can shoot, GA starts to chase Ludi but triggers the Claymore and finds himself 30yards from the rest of his body :)

Ok, thanks.

I had two sizeable probs in 1942. The first was tanks. I couldn't hit another moving tank with the main gun if I was also moving.

Secondly, I couldn't hit anything with bombs in a plane, AFAIK there is no bomb sight.

I could solve both of these by continuous practice against bots as I will if BF2 is good, but if there's some secret to it, let me know lol.

when i played bf 1942 with tanks the only real thing to do with shooting moving tanks while your moving is to just try to judge where theyre going to be moving to in the few seconds time, when they realise youve fired theres nothing they can do to avoid it really, no chance of stopping quick enouhg to get out of the directory and cant really outspeed it if it is well placed.

Planes - couldnt hit anything with them either, only people who could probably playe the game too much

well, i played Desert Combat mainly, which is pretty much where BF2 came from, so it shouldnt be that bad.

Flying / Bombing: Its important to get used to flying and get good at evasive manuvers. Bombing is obviously important too, it just takes practice. Get in the warhog for a bit and learn the time it takes for the bombs to hit the ground at different heights so you know how to time. I find that just dive-bombing normally is quite good to get the practicing down. Some planes have a 2nd seat for a bomber to sit. He has a bomb sight. BF2 though will have lasers and the such, so i presume bombing will be a bit easier. I reckon that lasers will be the most usefull for planes since they are generally a waste of time if the bomb misses. Helos are better for air cover and attack. Jump in a cobra/apache with a buddy and hide behind buildings waiting for people. Otherwise, you just need to keep moving around. If find that doing crazy shit normally pays off, but thats just me.

Tanks: Just takes a bit of practice. Getting good at manuvering while shooting is usefull aswell since you find that while your top half is spinning one way, your bottom half may spin another way, and then when you want to go forward, you suddenly start movingt he other way. In DC tank battles where generally like a game of chicken. Tanks just drove at eachother till one blew up or one got scared and jumped out or drove off.

I never played with voice comms, but i can only assume it must make the game infinately better and more fun.

One thing, which i'm sure they'll keep it the parachute. The tick is timing. It doesnt matter how long the chute is open for, it just matters that its open before you go splat. I found a good tactic is too jump from a plane and then wait till the very last second before hitting the ground to open the chute. If you get the timing well, the enemy wont see a chute opening and will think you died, which you hopefully didnt.

The Chute was confirmed in PCZones latest Issue...

As for Tanks hitting a moving target, im afraid just as in PS. You either have he skill or you dont.

You cant practice hitting a moving target with a arcing SABOT round it takes that little special thing that comes naturally.
Dont be disappointed though, not that many people can hit a moving target when they are moving themselves so its not like your alone on that one.

Just checked out the New Official trailer.... OH MMM GEE!

It looks amazing, but unfortunatley if the video is any indication it looks like Tanks are gonna be easy to take out as usual....
