Tough one
I used to have a PowerColour 9800 myself and it wasnt too bad....
This one has more memory than the Sapphire which can be a huge help when playing HL2 and Doom3....

Ludi, there both 128...
I would go for Sapphire Radeon.
The cards are both alike. Bad thing about both cards are the fans. I have read about fan failures on both cards. I have the PowerCooler card and no problems so far, but considering the price I would go for the cheaper one since the only real diffrence is the sticker :)

the x850 maybe be slightly and i mean slightly faster than a 6800 ultra, the x800 isnt even close.
Now i was a ~ATI fanboy but i became a serious gamer and decided to drop all loyalties.
I have 3 machines
AMD 3000+
1GB of ram
Nvidia XFX 6600GT
P4 2.8 prescott
1GB of ram
Nvidia Galaxy 6600GT (replaced a Powercooler 9800pro that had planetside issues)
AMD 64 4000+
1GB Corsair pro
2 x 6800gt Sli
Ati have lost there way the 6600gt is the better option if you can get a SLi pci-e compatable one than all the better for future expansion.
(b4 you say SLi wont take off both graphics companies are commiting to it.)

I have seen a Sli'd 6800 Ultra running, sure its quick but its only 40-60% efficiant....
the orice makes it outta rech of the casual player. Sorry but Bang for buck the X800XT trounces the Nvidias.
Oh and Pixelshader 3! Hahahaha... How many games use pixelshader 3???
4? 5? 6?..... ATi is using their Next gen (Yes the X800 is the old gen... its the end of the Radeon series) with Pixelshade 3 :)

Ok...so if I went for the Powercolour, what about getting a third party fan/cooler to put on it? Komplett don't do VGA coolers as far as I can see so I was thinknig about overclockers who have a good range (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Other_Coolers_57.html). Are they any good? And which one (or more) of those sounds good?
I'm slightly confused about all the 6600s. My budget for the card is a max of about 130 pound. There's a 6600 256mb for 100 quid. There's a 6600GT 128mb with DVI for 125 quid. And there's a 6600GT 128mb with 2xDVI for 134 quid.
Which one is best/best value for money? Would I need a cooler for that?
I could even get a B grade product:
http://komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=307411&cks=PRL
or
http://komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=305627&cks=PRL
Please help, I kinda need to know today what I'm buying...

Unless you want to o/c the carda lot you don't need a cooler other than the one it already has imo.
Now about the 6600 I don't think u need 2xDVI :D, I would go for the 6600GT 128mb

HERE IS THE WORD OF THE BREAD.
A week ago I saw a graphics card. I won't tell you what that card was. I won't tell you what it could do. I won't tell you when it's coming out.
What I will tell you is this:
No matter what your situation is, I repeat, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SITUATION IS, do NOT buy a graphics card at this time. Wait. You will know what you are waiting for when they hit the shops. Fungi in glaciers on Pluto are going to know when these things hit the shops.
If you must buy anything then get a PCI-E motherboard.

Would that be the G70 hovis? Or the R520? You could just randomly hit the G or R button on your PC by mistake or do a /nod which I'm sure won't be breaking any NDAs you mgiht be a part of :p

Gesus Vasquez I can't be everywhere. Seriously though if I'd had the net working sooner I'd have said something sooner.
As it stands I feel the pain of AGP users, since I run a sweet AGP system which I will probably have to shell out a lot on to put right.
Bread respects the NDA, but Bread is not breaking the NDA to tell you this:
The next generation cards are coming this summer.
I cannot give you any information about speeds because I know what I know. If I didn't know it I could happily speculate but because now I'm privy to the facts I'm sworn to secrecy. However ya'll know that the Bread wouldn't be getting this hot under the collar if we were talking small potatos.
When these cards hit the shelves prices for existing tech will drop as ya'll know it would.

is this the pci-e stuff. i was looking and saw alot of boards (for under £100) with pci-e 16x. is this good? does it go faster, the the fuck is it anyway? bread i understand u have knowledge about these and so ar elimtied about what u can say, but can u just give me the gist? are they better than agp, if so by a lot (no numbers - i rarely understand them anyway) and should i be looking to move into this now or when it goes mainstream, my local cheap pc shop www.microdirect.co.uk already stocks them

PCI-E 16x is what graphics cards connect to. You'll be wanting at least one of those on any board to run a PCI-E graphics card.
Bottom line is AGP has been on the way out for the last few years. When the 6800 generation of cards appeared it was essentially the last time that AGP would be competitive. If you are looking for a new motherboard you need to be looking at PCI-E x16 for your graphics. PCI-E x1 is weeny ports that nothing actually uses yet.

Fuck.
Played FarCry for about 10 mins and then my PC restarted. The only components left to replace the my Chieftec Dragon Case, my ABIT AV8 3rd Eye mobo, my Athlon64 3500 CPU and my 1024mb of PC3200 RAM.
I'm thinking I should replace the RAM...if I replace the mobo, I have no graphics card, the CPU will be about 150 quid so that's a last resort, RAM is only 90 quid and it seems more likely.
