We've been asked to supply numbers on what we will be providing, the choices are planes or vanguards, if we are not all one or the other Nuts wants to split us up to join Rebel Assault, with squads based on loadout not outfit.

So your views please?

Edit: because of my objections to splitting the outfit a workaround has been suggested, where we stay in our own TS channel, but platoon with guys from RA who have the same loadout, a poor comprimise in my opinion as it seems to assume that anyone doing one thing, will be doing only that for the evening. So I think it better if we all arrange to do the same thing, stick together and support each other as normal?

I voted Air Cav because I think the NCWA is lacking in that area. We need to have a group of players in the air so they can do : Rapid Reaction, Gal escorts, Tower droppers, CY dominance. Without that the enemy has no need to pull AA, which means all enemies will be with AI/AV - AA is only good for Air, so as many players as we can force into that role the less that our main force must deal with.

Just my take on it.

Cheers,Completely disregarding tactics, I want to have a fun night, I'm a very poor pilot, I use a mossy for transport only, I feel useless and a loss of a player if I'm stuck in an aircraft.

I have both certifications (well, I will have if we go Air Cav) so 'll be able for either. I'm the same as Echor, I'm not too hot in a small plane, so I'd prefer to be driving tanks, but I'll do what is needed.

If I can get an internet connection in my new flat before Sunday I'll be well up for joining in, but that's unlikely to happen sadly. With that in mind I won't vote but I will offer my 2 cents because I r teh l33t.

Air cavalry is not very effective. You need good pilots with a lot of flying hours to make a truly effective air squad and to be honest I can imagine enemy AA and experienced pilots cutting our boys to pieces.

So that leaves the alternative, tanks and BFRs. Hmm.

Well first off I would not go for BFRs unless you really need them or unless you are defending and the enemy is coming to you because they are really, really slow.

FWIW I'd say you should go for tanks and mixed ground transport or a Galaxy if you can get it. RL has the best infantry combat squads in the world, you need to find the best way of getting them from target to target as fast as possible and with the fewest losses en route.

Oh....disregarding tactics I would go with Vanguards also....because I absolutely SUCK in the air. I do think I am a decent driver though, so if it is just for fun then I would go with Vanguards.

I have voted for Vanguard. Like others, i am a terrible pilot. In fact, possibly the worst pilot on Werner!!! (no really I am :( )
If a number of peeps are not good pilots, I totally agree with Hovis. A night of getting Air raped would not only be not fun, but we would not be effective at all to the NCWA.
I know we do have some top class pilots though, so I will go with the flow (and bring some vaselene for myself if we air cav!!)

I'd say Vanguards.

Aircav is fun, but i don't think we have enougth dedicated pilots to make it work. Vanguards with AA support then? a Flight Variant or two, and a lodestar for field repairs?

I would recommend posting about this in the command bunker on the NCWA, let the other guys know that RL would like to perform the event as a "Spec Ops" / Tactical Infantry squad.

It might be too late now, as Nuts was kind of counting on RL/RA working together to provide Ground and Air support (not the certs).

So far we have 6 Vangauards, 2 Air Cav, and 4 don't care. As we normally field about 15 players for an Event I would think that we could have the 6 guys on the ground team up with RA's ground guys - Gold Squad. Then the Air Cavs hook up - Indgo Squad and then have a third squad for anyone showing up late. From the numbers RA and RL has had in the last 4 events we should be able to get everyone into 1 platoon.

We keep the Same TS Channel and just have our Coordinator - Any volunteers for this? With my computer acting wierd I would hate to let you guys down by having it reboot at a crucial moment - relay info to the Air group. With individual whispers between Tank driver/gunner we should be able to keep the TS channel talk to a minimum.

What do you think?

The other way we can do this is to say that 6 players wanting Vanguards gives us the majority and we tell Nutss that RL will be in Vang/THundy/AA BFR (GV/FV) for the night. We have just as much right to have fun as the next Outfit, and if we are really not enjoying the Air side of things, then the NCWA will just have to make do with more armor.

Hallo all,

Since on may 22nd will be the 2 year anniversary for meself first logging into PS i thought i'd hang up my blunderbuss and axes for the weekend and dust off my Gauss and REK. That is if the current tac deployment allows to just jump in from the bush.

Voted Vanguards 'cause might as well try to break my personal survival record in one - was it 3,5 hours or so Echor? ;)

Just an update - I've sent Nuts a PM letting him know that RL will be fielding Vanguards/BFR's for the Event. Haven't heard back from him yet.

As i don't have the cert points to get a vang i'll either have to gun or stay in my mossy.
