Well not been back long at all and from what I expirenced last night, it seems we have gone backwards.

We took a base on a empty cont, then moved to take 3 other bases and guess what? we got a good kicking.

I still cant beleave that things are done this way.

The event only really beacame fun once we decided to AV the VS which was great.

I really thought we were going to make a difference. Instead we are part of a humiliation.

I was listening to command and switched it off after TATA told me not to ask for us to head to NOTT. (sorry TATA it just seemed the best place for us to hit together)

So after that I switched it off.

FUN because we made it fun in the end. AV in a group is lots of fun :D

I really think that the outfits need to stick to there own plan and we just use the comms to ask for help if they can help.

Oh yeah CC defence of AZEBAN was a joke until we got there, it would have been lost if we didnt get out of our planes.
Nice save guys it gave us a point to attack from.

I imagine that soon the events will field less and less people and the same thing will happen where Outfits go there own way cause there not getting anywhere in a larger group.
Then after a while the outfits will group up and make an alliance and try it again. I have seen this happen 3 times now and lets face it it always good to see loads of troops all head in 1 direction. But then when we lose and dont really get anywhere you kinda think whats the point.

Thankyou TATA for listening to the command channel.

My moment of disgust "Can RL go on a suicide mission to kill a lodestar in VIDAR" LMAO ( I said no way) What a miss use of a great resource.

The events can't be like the ones of old due to the lower poplocks, with a poplock of 133 and the alliance having somewhere near 100 players, we simply can't get onto a continent that is already populated :(

So what do we do, we look for the best target that might draw the enemy from a continent that we want, so the main zerg can make progress.

We don't plan to capture a continent, we plan to put up a very strong defence around a base that we capture (mistake #1 last night was trying to hack too many bases)

As this is still very early in the development of the Alliance, ideas are being tried and tested, anyone can apply to be the Field Marshall (regardless of rank), assuming they put up a battle plan that has merit they will get a go, so far very few people have come forward (I couldn't do it, I just don't think on the scale involved with that many people, and trying to organise and remember where everyone is for me would fail).

An event has in the past been some sort of theme night, because of the massive numbers involved, that theme has been split down to outfit level (personally I don't like being air support, not my strongest point)

You mentioned AV in a group, that's typical Commando stuff, great fun and highly effective, that's supposed to be our current play style (we've proved that gal drops aren't nearly as effective as they used to be, how many times have we seen multiple enemy gal drops, and just wiped them out, we are no different to them really).

Last nights event was one of the less exciting ones for me, probably because I'm not good in a plane, but we did do what we set out to do, that was to draw the enemy, they eventually made our last target their primary.

In previous events we've had times where the enemy didn't respond at all, so had to relocate, that was boring, finding a balance between a target that is too hot, or a non target is very difficult, if we are ignored, that's about 100 bored players.

So far the numbers are climbing up rather than dwindling for these events, they certainly will fluctuate, but the idea behind them is to get outfits to work together more, hence all being on the same TS server, the plan that is every outfit always has someone on command chat, so if they can help another outfit it can be arranged instantly.

I would like to see us beat the NME on a 50/50 basis

We should be able to if everyone listens and does what there good at.

After all we do win some conts without any command structure.

After all we do win some conts without any command structure.I think the weakness here is the specialization, meaning that as we aren't working in unison with our allies, the enemy is coping with one type of attack after the other and can adapt easily, we need to attack more cohesively. This then makes the whole thing more like a normal days play then though, with a mixed attack method, so that the enemy is split to many types of defence, but equally we have fewer people attacking in certain ways.

I think what needs to be done, is to look at this in a bigger sense, with T-Rex we have the ability (assuming everyone logs onto TS with their proper ingame name, nothing else) to analyse at a glance what armour, weapons are available for everyone, and just say we need more of so and so to do xxx, we have yyy certs for this, so plz use them. It would be more zerg herding then, but we'd have the advantage of knowing exactly what is available.

I think this events low success rate was because everyone where trying fresh stuff. We in Reavers and others in Gals.

If this was a real war it would ofcourse be a waste of potensial resources, but we must not forget this is a game. There maby a link between allot of members online for the event AND that peps dont do the same thing every time they join a event.

RL is more diceplined than most, even if we have peps now that can learn to be more patience, so we will last longer on boring stuff than some other outfits.
Doing alwayes whats best/most successful for RL I dont think will alwayes help the Alliance.

Point is we didnt do that well in Reavers since we dont have any doctrines on "how to do stuff". Ergo teamplay becomes hard to do and when we lose good teamplay, we become less successful.

Instead of just scrubbing the new stuff we should try it from time to time and try to get in place doctrines that work for us.

The Alliance events should, in my mind, keep a healthy balance between super success and fun. This because I think thats how you will keep players from most outfits, not just RL, comming back to the next Alliance event.

There are however lots we can do to improve a Airplatoons success.
Wingman, squads for pri airtargets and squad pri for ground targets, 2-3 AA BFR to follow as ground to air support etc...
****
Also Justing you cant realy complain about the lead when we where like flying like smurfs.
****
What I did miss on some of the orders doh was.
1. To much on the wind complex flying orders... Had a hard time getting it all my self and saw many ending up just following others.
2. To little of short tactical flying orders.Eg why I spoke up when we flew to Seth. If its to hard to listen to platoon command and give these orders we should maby have a tactical flying leader, who just gives formationg and what to do in short, while the PL is listening and updating the "big picture" stuff.
3. Peps not sticking togheter and some peps boosing ahead of others into enemy terretory, just to scream for backup when they gott outnr.
4 No formations/wingman. Dont think airshow here, but it is possible to have 3 plane formation just flying after each other attacking the same target for a rapid kill etc ( this needs whispwer key sorted doh ) This makes everyone a mini squadleader so this could be hard to do well and takes training.
****

In the end doh we need to do this stuff more often to get better :)
