To anyone concerned about the validity of the link: it's the Funcom link they put up on your account page once the transaction's cleared. You don't need an early-access granted account - or an account at all - to grab this client.

This is the downloader. When you start it up it asks you where to put the files, and then it builds a framework, after which it downloads the files.

Once the files have arrived you can install the game.

Do you know if I can use the Closed Beta client or do I actually need to download a new one?
(I "hacked" the open beta over to a closed beta since I had a key for both and I couldn't be arsed to download again. So I might be able to do the same on that one. :D)

You can hack it to the best of my knowledge. Funcom declares that this is "unsupported" thus if you fail they won't be helping you make it work.

Unless you really seriously cannot manage the D/L in the time between now and the 17th I'd suggest just D/Ling it.

Beyond that, whatever crap you did for the first one will probably work for the second, and if you need specific files I or anyone else with the official client can mail them to you.

Apparently textures in OB ware uncopressed .. so it might be a good idea to DL the thing anyway.

Aye what Volw said, they've been doing a lot of shader optimisation as well so might be an idea just to grab the client. You can use the link Khammar posted, it doesn't require any sort of registration/login to download and install - you just won't be able to play without an account.

I strongly suggest downloading it.

What is everyone's aversion to DLing a file? Even with my middling DSL (3k/0.5k) I did it in less than a day.

Beyond that, feel free to play about with hacking it. If anyone needs any files I'm more than happy to mail them.

Well it created the files in 5-7 mins and then nothing. I let it be for about 2 hours and finally it starts but only at 74 KB/sec which is shit. I should be able to reach 1.4 MB/Sec with my connection (That is my usually speed when downloading torrents). And yes I did kill all my porn downloads.

Yeah people have suggested limiting your UL speed, and also starting and stopping your download.

I personally went from 300ish to 180ish over the course of less than a day. Of course I started downloading the second I found the client link.

Many people have complained about getting little to no download speed. That does suck indeed. I suspect in many cases it is simply Crom telling them to sod off.

Can also try running it through an open port.

Click 'about' or smtn like that on the installer to find the command line parameter.

Speeds seem a lot better than they were a few days ago, i was getting it then at 400k/sec or so... now it's more like 700k/sec and it's not as late as it was last time. Should bear with it if you're using the downloader. You've got another 40 hours or so to get it and get the patch anyway (which if i recall was a little under 800mb).

I installed Vista 64 today to make use of DX10 finally, so i'm having to do it all over again. Still only going to take around 7 hours to download at patch, even at these speeds. :D

People are complaining about not having a real torrent that you can stick in any old torrent software. But it IS a torrent. (It just doesn't work well overly well as they do not tell you what ports to unblock DEFAULT . . . as a result I could not seed during my download. MANY others could not either.)

Occasionally it dropped 100KB/s, so I clicked pause and play to get it back up to speed.

If you just have a problem with the downloader and not torrents... try http://www.mininova.org/tor/1412364 .

Or if you can even get a hold of the Us client, i have read around the beta forums of people changing the LocalConfig.xml for another (not sure if something else needed changing also) and converting it into an EU client. Infact someone even said they did the same with the beta client and converted it into a EU EA client... but that would likely have a bit of extra RDB files and such that you didn't need.
