Where would you like the Legion to settle, a PvP server, PvE server or an RP-PvP server?

I dont care tbh as long as it isnt the RP-PvP.

How about we wait for a word regarding pvp ruleset?

Two points, firstly Ludi I don't think you should get to vote because you only play for five minutes. :D
Second why are we voting? The Legion ought to go PvP. For everybody else there's Hello Kitty.
Thirdly, oh yes, I lied in the first line, Volw is right that we ought to wait for the rule set.
All that said I am firmly of the opinion that Renegade Legion doesn't not avoid PvP. After pwning Pirates of the Burning Sea I don't see why we can't pwn another game. To be the best at a game we only need to be better than everybody else who plays it, and with the crowd we have that's not impossible.

Still five minutes longer than yow! :p
The ruleset has been around for months. I keep trying to tell Volw but he ignores me. Everytime Funcom have been asked how it will work in PvP they same the same thing "You can kill anyone not in your guild or group, anywhere. Except maybe the Player Cities but we have not finalised that".

Yes and no, in another interview someone stated that they are still looking into it. And me wants more specific info, cause 'FFA' doesn't say much.

Give us linkage, id like to see this interview. The only ones i have found where they are vague about the core of the ruleset are from 2006.

I "vote" PvP. I demand killing. Not that I will have time to play it, I don't have time to play anything in a serious manner at the moment. Damned real life.
Nor do I know anything about the game everyones talking about. I need an idiots short summary of what we're dealing with to be honest. :p

I voted for PvP, never mind what the ruleset is going to be. But I can understand people that want to wait for that before committing.

Isn't that a double negation or triple? ;) So trying to understand that one Hovis I think you want to go PvE or am I wrong? (So much for a games journalist, he he :D)

Voted PvP, can't see any reason whatsoever to voluntarily limit my gameplay options. When muppets get cheeky they must eat steel.

This is enough pvp penalty right? lol
Under the right conditions, characters with enough Soul Corruption will go to hell upon death, and will be forced to fight their way out before being able to respawn and continue the game. This is primarily a problem for mages and priests, but other characters will have to watch for it as well.

No hell m8, they removed it. Reason was that it only affected casters and it would be sort of imba if they ware thrown to hell in the middle of raid.
Soul corruption is still there, it's sort of an evil debuff that can render the caster pretty much useless.
Theres 20 pvp levels. As it is atm, you loose 300xp when you die.
CTF: you gain about 60 when you or your team kills.
Totem Torrent: (TDM with destroyable 'spawn tubes') gain 30-40 for a 'team kill' or about a 100 when you deal the final blow.
Oh and theres some modiefier as well, sometimes its less and sometimes its more xp. Can't figure it out.
When you die theres a stacking debuff placed on you, like in GW. Which I must admit I really like. XP loss is pointless at top level, gear damage/gold loss doesn't affect ability to pvp and requires grind afterwards.

I faintly remember a thread like this creating a nice big flaming war and a big split in the legion about 4 years ago...
PvP ftw nevertheless

Lets just forget about that "war" and move along. I know I've said sorry some ppl for some remarks.
But looking at the vote I think most are agreeing on going PvP. :D

I bet Lean voted. I seem to remember him posting about wanting to roll on a RP-PVP server some time ago.

PVP
Following in the footsteps of the barbarian, I cant imagine not being able to chop some heads off without "checking" if its allowed.
On the open mass ganking issue I'd reckon that if the game has enough players and guilds, you know quite fast who and what you can gank. Besides, nothing gets me more glued to a screen than a good old vendetta!

Aye, the FFA nature of Conan's PvP rules is what tickles my nipples. As there's no "built-in" friends and foes it opens a whole new tin of player-driven politics.

Would like to play RP-PvP.
Reasons:
#1 - Maturity Level
What ive found with rp'ers in other mmo's is that the rp element acts almost as anti-smack/jackass filter. It spurs a person on to hold onto his manners because if he goes ballistic and acts like a jackass/leaves character typically he will be scolded and put down by the other rp'ers. The discipline required for RP tends to lead to an overall improved level of maturity and puts an almost gentlemanly element to the game(ie no smack/forumwars). Now this may be a stretch but this gentlemanly element may even help in pvp because people won't run if you "dishonor" them they'll throw down the gauntlet and fight a gentleman's duel to regain their honor or else run and be branded a coward. Ill go even as far to say that this may even deter asshatary such as dirty handed tactics(ie exploiting, glitching, cheating, metagaming, spying, etc). We all know how much this is a pain in the ass in Potbs for those who play. Do you want to put up with it here?
#2 - Immersion
OMG WHO CARES ABOUT IMMERSION GTFO!!!! Ya seems like extra fluff tbh
but hear me out on this point. Im not sure about this but from what i gather in order to add to immersiveness brought on by and needed on an rp server there will be no pvp free areas; pvp in towns, cities, ANYWHERE! and there will be harsher consequences \o/. Also ide find it interesting have some rp-writeups by the rp'ers written about us after a major battle instead of the usual cookie cutter forum posts. More of a ramble than reason but hey ide thought some of you may be interested in this point.
#3 - Better PvP
WHAT? YOUR KIDDING RIGHT? Again hear me out. Where do you imagine the typical pvper will go? Certainly not an rp-pvp server that would be too much of a pain in the ass for the typical pvper. Now with the typical pvpers(the 1337, counterstrike, ADD, asshat, elitist, egomaniac, etc crew) moving to pvp servers, hopefully, this will, hopefully, leave a core consisting of decent/mature of pvps. I could be wrong and I could be skewed by the want of a utopian pvp server but hey i can dream.
Finally
In summary and theory i suggest we go to a rp-pvp server, contrary to popular want. I believe it will leave us with a more immersive, more mature, and more fun experience. We want to be the best and have fun and this is my
2 cents.
Disclaimer
These are my opinions and mine only. I am not liable for mental anguish in deciding a server just throwing out my 2 cents. Also if we go through with this you'd better be ready to drop all aspects of asshatary because it might not end well otherwise. There is a price (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4Uz5M_j-5w#GU5U2spHI_4) to pay for utopian pvp ofcourse. Mental scarring may result from rp forum usage.

Well to be honest, if I was going to go RP in any MMO it would be this one.
From my view it has a lot more background and 'realism' to it than others.
And lets face it, we all want to run around shouting 'By Crom!' deep inside while swinging around a big two handed claymore.

Not that I have decided to play, but I don't care about server type, and voted accordingly. I'll be looking at the Beta in May before I make any decisions. What guild I join will be decided after I determine if I'll even be buying.
TBH I'm more interested in WAR, but with the delay to the end of this year it leaves a gap big enough for the Governator's ass.
