That's not a good sign regarding subscriber base.

True, but some (most) of the servers ware deserted from the beginning anyway.
The problem is, brits will have even bigger advantage now.

Nah, supposedly each Nation will be limited to 25% of the servers population capacity. Hopefully people will congregate on the the more populated servers. With any luck the global ratio of nation to nation isn't so screwed as to prevent the servers filling up in a cascade from popular to empty

Wow.
But arnt most of the servers full of Brits/Pirates?
So now after they merge the servers, people won't be able to play on their toons, once the cap is above 25% .. this sounds like a lot of people canceling their subs soon. I mean, log on during the prime time and have a nice msg saying 'fuck off and go play french on a different server'. Doom I say.

Whatever mate. You ought to try logging on once in a while. I think you'd like what you see. Group PvP every night. Classes balanced. All things that are good.

There will be no cap for people coming to Roberts from Bonnet, Bellamy or Hornigold.
Though it seems a lot of French will be going to Antigua as that will have a large Quebec contingent.

Jeez FLS. Stop being so damn carebeary. Set hard caps. The future of the game is more important than if Joe Shitface gets to play with his carebear buddies.
Edit: Hmm. I cooled down a bit. Those are the other Euro servers, right Avri? Know anything about the balance situation on those?
Good to hear surgery went all right by the way, buddy!

Yeah they can't have many subscribers these days... I think that they severely overestimated how many people would be playing this game. Also, a lot of people have left the game for various reasons, so if FLS are to recover from this and grow, then merging the servers is the right way to go. It may be a step back for FLS right now, but it would be worse for them in the long run if they didn't do it, because that would make them look incapable of taking initiative and dealing with problems.
I think it is a good sign that they do this, because to me it looks like they are trying to improve things. I hope this will help stop some of the 'doom and gloom' negativity we see from so many people these days, because they will now actually have fun playing the game due to properly populated servers. Hopefully this will help the subscriber base start growing from now on, albeit it might be slowly :p

It's Planetside syndrome. Devs think games like this are like WoW, where in a lot of cases it's actually smart -not- to want a crowded server. But PotBS needs people. They should not have had more than four or five servers at launch.

Well at the moment Roberts is the third destination of choice and we are not getting that many people.
Most of the players from the European servers seem to have headed for Antigua, we might have picked up a few, but as I have not logged in lately I have no idea.
The Rack has also picked a lot of transfer, quite a few coming from Blackbeard, which seems to be losing more players than it is gaining.
Antigua and The Rack have been leading a very good propaganda battle against Roberts and Blackbeard, the argument against Roberts being mostly that as a European server US based players will have horrible lag!
It does not matter that it has been pointed out numerous times that the servers are in Seattle.
I am worried as we do not seem to have picked up a lot of, if any US based players and so the British are going to continue their late night flips, especially when you see a couple of US based societies say that they are going to do it because it is their prime time.
Any ideas about advertising? Bread?

It's too late to advertise, should have got in there sooner I guess. Also information on existing Spanish societies is weak at best for people looking to find out about them. There's a wiki page and a society thread, we're on neither, indeed almost nobody is.
The French seem to have done well though, they're quite well reinforced.
