One upcoming title i've kept an eye out for. Not as hyped as WAR or AoC but from what i've read about it seems quite interesting this. Anyone got a deeper take on it?

Ive heard of it from someone who used to work there. Nothing that really got me interested tho. Sean may know a little more about it than me :)

Personally i really like the art style in it and the combat system seems unique.

Oh and the music is by Jesper Kyd (Danish dude) who also made the music in Hitman.
Game looks quite good.

When i get chance i'll phone mat up and get the lowdown on it again. from what i remember is "its not like the WoW button mashing" for the combat thing and involves timing the scrolling CA bar alot ... or something close to it.
Some euro Goth/rock band was involved as well

those character models look horrible!
the aiming system seems to make ranged attacks impossible if you're either lagging or moving.

While I have not played it, I think the second might have something to do with the fact that its in 3d person. If you can get first person view as well, im sure aiming will become a lot better.

i don't think that 3rd/1st person view would change it - if you can only fire an arrow once every couple seconds and you have to keep moving (and so will the target) aiming is gonna be bloody hard.

Whats the matter GA? Afraid that you may have to dust off those long unused PlanetSide skills? :p

I never had Planetside skills. I only had about 4 frames per second to watch my squad clear the room and then revive me.
except for that one time when i killed my squad, the enemies, and stopped the hack.

Being under legal obligation to not discuss a lot, and not having been actively involved in the development of the game for quite a while, I can offer limited input.
They're very late releasing. On the order of two and a half years. Which is fine, as they were working on a 1.5-2 year dev schedule, which as we all know if too little. Currently they have deals with Frogster and Acclaim for european and north american releases, and they have a lot of far eastern interest in the title as well.
It could be a successful game, however it will not be (unless I am missing something vital) a huge success in the western world. (Can't vouch for the asian market as they are odd about what games they like.)
Soundtrack is great, rock songs (Within Temptation) as well. Graphics are pretty low spec (last I saw anyway) and highly stylized. Comic book veterans are in charge of the art design.
Combat mechanic is based on TCG design. You have moves you can slot into a wheel and each time you trigger a move the wheel spins. Which means you end up with a grid of 6x6 (6 times the wheel spins before being bck at the start and it is six moves long) being your fighting options for the moment. Everything is cone-based or aoe based, as there is nothing targetable. Personally I had a bitch of a time controlling combat, but it was interesting. Combo chains mattered as well . . . but were not flat out dictated, so you had to figure out what abilities combined well.
It's got potential, but I won't be buying it at release. And if you're looking for a job, they're hiring. You just have to be willing to work from The Hague and be an EU citizen (or have a permit already, as they won't do work visas) . . . tcos.com is the site.

Oh yeah, the guy talking is the Sound Designer and the guy playing is the Community Manager. (I don't know who else was playing but it looked like it might be the coffee boy . . .)

For those keeping score, they have launched/are in the process of launching.
All I can say is a really feel bad for my former colleagues. Though at the same time I'm glad that they've managed to get it out the door. That's one big hurdle for sure.
