...that thread, and a thread I can't link from the main PotBS forums because they are currently kaput where someone suggests that they are about 50% efficient for non FT classes I decided to do a little testing.
Grabbed a couple of expert carpenters on my NO up at Sisal and trotted out to get damaged by a couple of lowbie NPC 'rats in my old VH snow.
The above seems to be correct, the carpenter seemed to repair some amount maybe 35%, I couldn't really tell you how much because I was taking damage still. In hindsight using it after combat would have been better. The interesting thing to note is that it did indeed repair structure as well as armour. I can confirm they are on a separate timer to other repair consumables, and that the timer on the experts looks long. Probably the thirty minutes I was told last night and they all share that timer as well someone informed me in /society chat, which is probably the case.
They also don't seem to sell at all, which makes me think that either everyone has a few saved up, societies are producing them for their members or perhaps still that a lot of the population consider them FT only.
Being on a separate timer I can't really see a downside to anyone having a few of each flavour about, when PvP'ing or in a port battle. Privateers having no structure based repair might enjoy the carpenter ones.
The are pretty expensive to make, seem to have no sale potential and aren't exactly anything more than a 30 minute "Oh shhhhiii...." button but I think I'll set up as that guide suggests and make us some.
Any thoughts? Anyone port battle'ing tonight might want to splash out the 1.5k dubloons that will buy you a carpenter one in Sisal right now.
