Yeah it does. Really doesn't look like the tech demo I tried myself. Ofc. my rig isn't top line but I think it's still quite ok. And I did try and crank the settings to max just to see it and it just dropped the frame rate a bit and it didn't get that kinda KAPOW look you see in that demo.

The Tech Beta you get to play with is extremely cut down Iron. They cut out most of the stuff you dont need and wont see to keep the file sizes down for when you have to redownload the updated clients. :)

Needless to say that the General beta client looks quite a bit better.

Yeah but you see they wrote that it is from the Tech Beta m8.

I know. The Tech Beta that you and i see is different from the one that they use for trailers.

The Tech Beta that you download has all the high quality textures stripped out so even if you wanted to you couldnt make it look as nice as the client they have at Funcom to make all the trailers. :)

never mind how it all looks, the big question if you are still beta testing it ludi is the game still shit ?

I would say 35% No... 65% yes. It was shockingly good when i first got my hands on it, before the first delay, but its going downhill. They have taken out alot of the complication of the combat system so its almost WoW'esque. The Casting system is still fairly good tho.

The game itself is well built. The massive zones are all there, but it isnt like WoW where everything is seamless. What it does do well is make you feel like your playing an Adventure RPG rather than your traditional Grinda-thon MMO.

You have fantastic bits where you scale the sides of Volcanos to beat the fuck out of some idiot or sly bits where you have to follow some guy by staying in the shadows which is very, very Theif-like in its execution.

As i said tho, you have the dumbing down element which seems to be the prevailing attitude amongst game developers trying to cash in on WoW's success.

Oh and i forgot to mention that Ranged combat is pretty fucking cool and anyone who has played Mount & Blade will feel right at home in the game.

Bah, thats really bad news to me then. Gonna still give it a try when it comes out, but if theres no complexity to it, i see no real reason to play it.

Aye that's pretty much the sentiments i've settled to.

Spend 3 hours downloading patches, downloaded over 25gb on AoC data files now and still the game wont run. Piece of shit.

LOL!

I think Nyana is referring to the fact you only have three directions of swing as opposed to the five that were originally implemented.

Im curious tho, did you actually receive any combo attacks? I had atleast 4-5 before i reached level 10 on my Conqueror.

1: Beta has bugs yes, I can live with the fact that a chained woman after I released her doesnt lose her chained animations. But for god's sake, its like guildwars now, jumping over things is friggin impossible. You have no freedom to move where you want at all because of invisible walls, not able to jump on anything higher then your knees.

2: Even higher levels complained about the lack of things you could do to kill your mobs

3: Maybe, but after 2 3h long sessions you could get a clear impression. And in my beta experiences the beta turns into retail with some patches, but the game isnt altered very much.

Keep hoping for the best, this game needs it, because right now AoC is nothing more then Guild Wars v2.0. I wish you well with hoping.

Ok, some of that is crap tbqh. You get atleast 4 Combo attacks by level 10, fact. At level 40 you get atleast 30 as a Conqueror.

Invisible walls? If your referring to the run to Tortage which is down a valley then yes, the only reason being is that it is effectivley a story driven tutorial to get people used to the way the game plays and how to control their toon.

Once you get into Tortage you can run around the town, climb a fucking Volcano. I mean climb too, you end up a good few hundred feet from where you enter the zone. Then there is the Pict area which is massive and to me reminds me of Zul'Aman which is no bad thing, the place is fucking huge and built into the side of a mountain.

Also are you in the Tech Beta or General Beta? I have said previously the tech beta is limited to small areas for the stress testing of the instance system and server loads. This means that usually you have access to two or three small zones and nowt else, this is to really pack people in to stress the game out.

I will admit that the game is getting way toned down from the original premise and some of it really is poor and ruined my opinion of it but alot of those arguments are tbh, bollocks.

lol!

Its uncompressed in a similar fashion to the Vanguard beta that whopped in at about 30Gb too.

Rumour mill is churning that "Open" beta will be available from Fileplanet, IGN and TTH around the 01/05/08.

Also Play.com has a pre-order up for £24.99 which includes the Rhino mount and should give you a three day headstart, altho none of that is one hundred percent because Eidos are fucktards.
