You guys arnt up on your Warfare Tactics.
The primary aim is not to kill the enemy, but wound them. That is the predominant reason the UK armed forces us the 5.56 calibre round.
You injure and enemy soldier.... it takes 2 others to care for him....
So you look at how many injured US soldiers there where in somalia... they got pwned.... by nothing more than a group of rag wearing militiamen with some overloaded pickup trucks.

Bradly surface to air missiles?
Chinse pure role attack helicopters? Looks like its modeld after the helicopter you see in James Bond GoldenEye, which in its case its a communist attack helicopter made in Europe, yeah right. :)
Also I realy think no sane big publisher would put/want suiced bombers in a computergame :)

China does have a pure attack/scout role helicopter in the Russian HAVOK MI-24, (I believe that's the NATO designation).
As for Somalia, we lost 18 soldiers and took out at a conservative estimate 1000-1500. This mission was viewed as a success, we took minimal casualties while facing a vastly superior threat, even lacking proper support. It's generally referred to by military historians as the decisive infantry battle of western modern history.
As for the 5.56- no, it's not a lower calibre so that it wounds. In fact, it's not a low enough calibre to wound someone when they're not wearing kevlar: it goes right through, which is a problem we experienced during Somalia. 5.56 was chosen for 'stopping power', ie the ability to hit someone and knock them to the ground, in the cold war context- it was designed to knock over Soviet soldiers, in other words.
If you don't believe me, check your history books.

Havok is Mi 28 ( China dont have em as far as I know )
Hind is Mi 24 ( Attack/transport helicopter )
What they are doh after some research is that they are planing to produce a China version of the Eurocopter ( which FYI is the one in GoldenEye ) that they are gonna call the Z-10 so I guess by 2010 they will probaly have operational pure role attack helicopters.
Also I realy think the main reason for going over to 5,56 was so troops could carry more ammo whitout sacrefysing bullet attack/stoping/penetration etc power whatever you wanna call it.
Personaly I think 5,56 is much easier to shoot whit considering its fast speed and low arch. Easier to hit targets on 300meters. +300 I would rather have 7,62x51 or even longer catridge like the german mauser or US M1 Garand.

UK adopted the 5.56mm because the USA did. Pure and simple. We were actually developing the .280 (7.4mm) cartridge but it got scrapped when the US adopted their new cartridge.
5.56mm was made to fascilitate a light weapon, with excellent accuracy at close range. That weapon was the M16 which was light and accurate, but rather shit for the first 20 years of its life until the M16A2 came along. The U.S. army adopted the 5.56mm because it had already been proven with the U.S. air force (for which the cartridge was designed) and the guns were readily available. They needed a new gun because their new M14 was a bit crap and they couldn't wait for a whole new gun to be deisgned and tested.
The 5.56mm is very very accurate at under 300m and can retain good accuracy up to 600m in a very accurate gun like the L85A2 or G36K. However, at 300m it's lost most of its stopping power. It will knock a man to the gronud at most ranges but it's unlikely to kill them very quickly. This is a good thing in an all out war, as Ludi points out but in modern wars where we're fighting militants and terrorists and rebel groups, it's a very bad thing.
The old 7.62mm NATO has a much greater range than the 5.56mm and all the stopping power you need, but it has too much recoil and is too large to make a good assault rifle cartridge.
New cartridges have/are being developed to solve the problem. Namely the 6.8mm SPC and the 6.5mm Grendel. The Grendel is really more of a hunting cartridge but from personal experience I can tell you it would make a great assault rifle cartridge. It dosn't kick too much, it's got as much stopping power as a 7.62mm and you can reach out and touch someone a kilometre away. The 6.8mm is a CQB cartridge really. Lots of stopping power, small, light, accurate, very little recoil...but it lacks range.
AFAIK China uses only the Mi-17, Mi-8, Z-9, SA342 and the S-70C-2. Bradley FVs are equipped with a pair of coaxial wire guided TOW missiles, not SAMs.

The US was hardly meddling. This is one of the rare occasions in US history where the US had absolutely no real interest in the area aside from humanitarian concerns. They went in at the behest of the UN, who's director, Butros Gahli, thought he had a clear understanding of the situation and wanted the US to take out Aidid. Turns out he didn't, and it all went to hell without Clinton or any of his staff fully realising what was happening.
Yeah, American intervenes a lot, especially when their vital national interests are concerned. In Somalia, however, they did it because it was the right thing to do- they did it to save people.
Again, if you don't believe me, look in your history books.

I said Z-10 ( Eurocopter Tiger ) (http://www.htl-hl.ac.at/bfsflt/BILDER/Eurocopter/tiger.jpg) not Z-9 (http://user1.7host.com/drno/news/Z9_bomb.jpg) and I hardly think I would missinterpent a Z-9 to a Lynx (http://apma.org.au/reference/helicopter/lynx/lynx01.jpg) since they dont look alike at all.
European Perspectives
Eurocopter-CHRDI 7-Ton Helicopter Program Progress
A Eurocopter official stated that following its revelation at the 2004 Airshow China, a memorandum of understanding was completed in December 2004 between Eurocopter and its Chinese partner to develop a new 7-ton utility helicopter. Eurocopter expects the program will commence by at least June 2005. The goal is to produce the new helicopter by 2010. It will be built in China, which will cover the Chinese market, and in France, which will produce for the rest of the world. This program marks an increase in Eurocopter’s long commitment to the Chinese market, beginning with the Super Frelon and Dauphin helicopters in the 1980s, which are still being built in China. Eurocopter officials noted that the Changhe Z-11 helicopter, which saw the test flight of a dedicated attack version in December 2004, still requires imported components. Changhe is not capable of total production of this helicopter. Meanwhile the first Internet-source pictures of the "Z-10" combat attack helicopter have emerged, confirming previous reports that it closely resembles the Eurocopter "Tiger" attack helicopter.
The first glimpse of a Z-10 prototype undergoing test at CFTE is shown here. Co-developed by 602 Institute and CHAIC as the first dedicated attack helicopter for PLA Army Aviation since 1998, Z-10 is generally believed in the same class as South African Rooviak and Italian A129, yet still not as capable as American AH-64 Apache. The helicoter adopes a standard gunship configuration featuring a narrow fuselage and stepped tandem cockpits with the gunner in the frontseat and the pilot in the backseat. It also have a five-bladed main rotor made of composite material and an AH-64 style tail rotor. All the vital areas of the fuselage including the cockpit and fuel tanks are believed to be protected by the armor plates. It weighs about 5.5 tons and may be powered initially by two P&W PT6C-76C turboshaft engines (rated @ 1,250kW each). However domestic developed engines (WZ-9?) may be used during later batches. Its rotor and transmission systems may have been designed with extensive technical assistance from Eurocopter France and Agusta. Its weapon system may consist of 4 HJ-9 ATGMs (comparable to American TOW-2A) in a box launcher under the stub wing and a 30mm cannon mounted under the chin, aimed via gunner's helmet mounted sight. In addition a new type of long-range heavy ATGM is believed to be under development for Z-10. Furthermore TY-90 AAMs can be carried against enemy helicopters and slow-moving fixed wing aircraft. Like other attack helicopters, it features a nose turret housing IRST, TV camera and laser designator. The helicopter may also be fitted with an integrated communication/navigation system, a comprehensive ECM suite, 1553B databus, and an integrated cockpit display system. Contrary to western speculations, two prototypes were built in 2003 and 6 more were being built in 2004. The first flight of Z-10 02 prototype took place on April 29, 2003.
