Welcome to yet another economy thread :p

I have a few questions which should make things a bit more effective and hopefully a bit more fun for some of you after the game enters the pre-boarding stage.

1. Are you going to pre-order?By saying no, I assume that you are going to grab a copy after the store release.

2. Are you going to roll an FT alt from the beginning?FTs get access to advanced recipes, that use 20% less labor than the common ones, meaning that output-wise, it's 2 more production slots. (in theory, that is)

Also, you get access to a big, fat cargo ships. (720 capacity at lvl19)

Mind that the pre-order lasts 2 weeks, and lvls will be capped at 20, so it shouldn't be a problem to get two toons to 20.

3. How much time do you want to spend toying with your buildings?

a) Gathering raw materials - basicaly, only thing you'll have to do, is gather stuff every 3 days, and send them to someone else to process. (i.e. logging camps, mines)

b) Basic processing - gathering raw materials connected with some basic processing. Takes slightly more time and may involve working with other people.(i.e. provisioning materials like wine, cheese etc)

c) Advanced processing / construction - think twice before applying for this one, you'll end up chasing everyone around to get the resources needed, also involves managing your suppliers. Requires quite a bit of spare time and a FT. (forges, saw mills, shipyards etc)

4. Are you willing to share your account details?

Economy in PotBS is a bit of a bitch, especially that for many products, it requires more than one person on-line at a time. (Until we get Society Warehouses at some point)

Plus, we can grab the stuff we need, at any time, without actually chasing you around.

Only two to three RL officers will have access to this data so it should be safe.

1. I've already Ordered the game and the pre-order package.

2. Im going NO again, since I like the play style over the others.

3. Im happy in St Joe sorting the Oak side of things with 1x granite 5x Oak and 4x Sawmills. I think it best if someone else takes over BP production.

4. Yes im happy to share my account details but only with 2 people.

I also suggest we have 2 people fully committed to producing and processing Iron.

1. I'm still a bit hesitant, but theres a good chance I will preorder.

2. Depends on time, if I happen to have lots of it, I'll make one, if not, then not.

3. I'm tempted to go for c, but time constraints push me to option B.

4. I wont mind sharing with a few people (damn nolifers!).

I'll pre-order and still haven't decided what I'll go yet, Naval Officer or Privateer.

Do I even need to say?

I'm pre-ordering, will be rolling a FT primary and only once I've got things sorted will I be leveling up a Naval Officer or Privateer.

Not to sure about the account sharing bit, will need to think about that one because it depends on what I'm doing - if it's vital then Yes, if not than no.

The one big issue is that I'm actually on holiday from the 8th to the 11th (been booked for a while but I'm not going to miss it because I want to drag my Dad off for his 50th that week) so I miss a good week of the boarding party, so I would suggest you build the economic situation first and crowbar me into the situation when I get back.

I did seem to spend a few hours on it last night without noticing the time fly by which is a good sign that ill like this game.

Not played it enough yet to be certain ill be buying it though.

Still be mainly playing WoW though even if i do :)

As some of you may have noticed i seriously enjoy this game. Thing is my current personal situation dictates the time and possibilities to play rather than what i'd like - i'm very likely needing to see to some major changes in january so i really can't say anything for 100% sure.

But in any case:

1. Real life permitting, yes. Then again a lot depends on time i'll be having so incase i won't be able to play during the pre-boarding party i don't see the point of preordering. Will if i can.

2. Not as first toon, no. I've grown to like the privateer career and although the massive beasts that are Ships of the Line at pinnacle of a naval career are tempting i like the privateer fighting style more. I WILL be making a FT alt at some point though since the economic bonuses they get are too good to ignore.

3. Again totally dependant on how much time i'll be having come new year but i would like to do more than just harvest. Agree with Peg that our best call would be to dedicate two peeps pretty much exclusively on the iron production - those two could mine the ore, quarry the limestone and set up forges to pump out the ingots as it's one of the biggest needs in ship building. From my experience dealing with it so far i'd suggest the iron dudes both set up like:
- 3 Limestone quarries in Tampa (4h labour to quarry 10 units)
- 3 Forges in Tampa (4h labour to smelt 10 ingot on top of iron goods for ships)
- 1 Iron mine in New Orleans (only 1h labour to mine 10 ore)
- 1 Fir logging camp in New Orleans
Using the remaining 2 slots to adjust/expand as needed. Fir from New Orleands simply because the resource is there and since they'd be setting up the warehouse and iron mine there in any case there's no point for someone else to setup shop there just for the fir.

4. Willing to share login details to a limit, i don't want them out as public information.

1. Maybe, on both counts.

2. Dunno.

3. As above.

4. Nope, dont give out account details on principle to anyone, its not that i dont trust you guys - its that i dont trust anyone :p

If i did get into this game id prob get two chars and devote one completely to production if it was needed. (not that arsed about sub fees)

I had two chars for EvE at one point for this reason but i stopped playing that a while back.
