Hi everyone!

First time poster here. Part of those pesky CrashLog people you probably have noticed on your TF2 server. First of all I'd like to say that we really enjoy playing on the server, it's quite cool to see the same peeps coming in and, well, trying to frag you as good as we can :)

There has, though, been voiced that you guys find it bad that we tend to team up together. I do admit that we have had quite some success with it and we quite enjoy getting to play together (we run our own ventrilo as well, I promise, there is no way you want to hear most of us swear at you guys, especially not in our very very cool Viking tongue). The thing is that we would like to continue to join up, but at the same time we really don't want to screw anyone over and dominate the crap out of you or anything. I've been known to suck and I know the frustration.

So what I was thinking, as an alternative to splitting, we could just try to balance the teams anyways. Maybe try to keep clans on each side and such? Try to evenly divide high scoring and low scoring guys. What are your thoughts?

Oh, and btw, don't take our clan too seriously as a clan. It is really just four guys that work at the same place that started to play TF2 at the same time.

And next time you are in and see Crashlog playing, give us a wave and we'll send you a nice red glowing yuletide rocket your way. Crashlog style! ;)

hi flexo

Personally i think the server is progressing and doing quite nicely, we have a growing group of regular names - which is a good sign that something is right with the server.

As far playing on the same team, sometimes the RL regular players will do the same, but on the whole we tend to pick random to appear to not stack the teams (some arent wearing tags so it might be less apparent), unless of course [crashlog] or other random [clan] are on the server in force, because honestly unless there is a wealth of good players on the other team they would be stacked and simply be a walkover.

Basically i think were aiming to have the most evenly matched games possible - as this is what makes a good public server - long nailing biting games are far more memorable than a total walkover.

hlstatsx has an autobalance feature which even the teams based on points - after the round but i dont really want to go down the route of forcing people to join a side.

Hi, nice to see you!

Having played with and against you many times I can understand what you are saying, but my opinion is that your worries about teams is unfounded.
OK those with little or no patience will get pissed off if things are too unbalanced, but lets face it, its no fun for either side if its like that is it?
From what I've seen an imbalance rarely lasts more than a full round?

As for crashlog not being too serious, it doesn't look as if we are either, although we often have many of us on Teamspeak, the chat is rarely about the tactics, in fact it can't be most of the time as RL tends to be on both teams.

I can't speak for others who may have better ideas than me for how to manage a server, but I've always found that in games people return to a particular server because they find it fun.

See you on the server

ello flexo,

I think i pretty much agree in part with what paria n echor have said the server is more busy then ever n we're expanding our regular player base everyday which is good news for the server.

I think as echor said you dont tend to see the teams stacked for to long a period on the rare occasion the map will last about 10/15mins because of 4 round walkovers and it does cause the server to die somewhat when that does happen, but in general its not that bad and i think ive asked for you guys to spread out everynow n then when its been like that.

Generally thats when theres been four of you on one side with 0 clanned people on the other and no regulars, after all nobody likes a walk through. I think if all the regulars to the server make an effort to balance the teams as much as possible by joining the loosing team etc it would be nice but as it stands i think the autobalance system does enough and it shows through the server popularity.

this point i am just mentioning will seem like being said from a 3 years old, but it will easy reveal how things are, and how they are suposed to be.

I am happy!
I enjoy playing with my m8's from rl, and i like to see how our comunity grows.
It gives me a feeling of being at home on that server because my m8s and favorite enemies are there every day.

all at all it makes me hapy just how it is, and i suspect you guys to be hapy also.
And isn't being hapy the whole point of playing a game with your fellows?

you are afraid of random noobs to avoid the server, but who cares about em?
the server is full, i have to wait ages for a slot.
the randoms don't make me happy when i see or kill em.
and they don't eaven give you points when you farm them.

I have to wait a good 15 minutes to join Rl server if im lucky. Personally i really dont mind friends being on the same team and all the regular players. But i much prefer it when the teams are balanced out which is why i tend to join the team with non regualr players. i also like getting my arse caned rather than going fo a walk in the park on a noob server

/me shouts 'Hello' to Crashlog players :)

Mostly the server is ok but sometimes it’s not. And sometimes when it’s not ok it can continue to be not ok for far too long. Personally I can’t see the fun in just zooming through the CPs in Granary/Well or even stopping the enemy taking the first CPs on Dustbowl/Gravel Pit (wont mention Hydro cos I don’t like it). But as I’ve said, mostly the server is cool and fun to play. If things get really out of hand regarding team stacking we’ve always got the server admins who can take action (or lots of other severs out there to play on).
So I think everything is in hand, but many thx for your concern and welcome to RL forum.

Oh, and if 4 of the best RL were on one side with your 4 on the other, you would lose :)

First time poster and must say really like the server normally(it's the only one i play on ). However i did have a little moan about teams last night, and again tonight. Don't normally mind getting owned, but as happened last night and again tonight, the team with the CL guys won just about every round on every map they played which started to get a bit wearisome.

I think it's getting to the point where some other regulars are waiting to join the same team as CL thus unbalancing the server more (something i refuse to do as i always autoassign and much more often than not i'm on the opposite side). Tonight some rounds on maps that on balanced teams can take over 20 minutes were over in a flash, and this happened all evening. The team with the CL guys won just about every round on every map.

,Just think when this starts to happen that the CL guys could at least consider evening the teams up once in a while, as when they all work as a unit using Teamspeak they can be unstoppable, especially when no other clan is on to organize things agains them.

Anyhoos enough guff and whinging ;)

I've stopped playing TF2 for a few days, mainly because first CoD4 and then PoTBS have eaten much of my time, but I've always found that if you guys from Crashlog are on one side the Legion tends to dive into the other side.

Either way I'm not fussed, I enjoy the game and I'll tend to go to the underdogs side because I tend to enjoy it somewhat more (not to mention it lets me whore Spy!). :P

Hey Flexo,

I'm glad to see an increase in regular faces and especially clans such as CrashLog. I've been less active recently, but had time for a quick game yesterday where I noticed CL dominating the server. I can understand why you like to play together and that’s totally fine with me, but when your clan is consistently winning by a large margin it has a negative effect on none-regulars. Personally you guys can stick on the same side when I’m playing, hopefully the stacked odds would improve peoples skill, either way… I like the challenge! :p
