As soon as I'm back on the game I'll get myself dug into Tampa.

When it comes to making black powder the best way to get it is by making coco and trading it at the capital. We can also get zinc there when we eventually need it.

Edit: Well, sounds liek both of you are doing the same thing lol :) Try to put 3 granite and 1 oak each then.
Noted will build another Quarry and 1x Oak. Might look at second powder mill.

I also have a small shipyard set up in Tampa. Just thought to build it to take some load off Fluf's medium yard once it's up to make him medium hulls, mast and sail riggings and stuff to save Fluf's labour for the actual ship building. Makes thing a bit faster as even the lighter vessels take several hours of labour to build.

Rar! Gun you're a star. :) I can see Bread demanding everything bar the sink off me so that'll help. Oh, and that reminds me, I need to set up a Warehouse in Cayo so I can get ready for the largeshipyard.

TBH, I'd prefer Fluff to build a second shipyard.
It's getting a little complicated if you do different bits as the resources end up flying between everyone, slowing the production.
What really worries me, if we end up expanding some of you metal business, then what? If you destroy you shipyard, Fluff will have delays, if we get another person to build it up for you, we'll cause even more confusion and spread the resources even more.

It's not flying resources at the moment because i pretty much refine what i harvest (iron, limestone -> forge, weaponsmith).
I can knock out the shipyard once Fluf's got his yards up to speed, thing is mine has now plenty of stored labour - no point in having Fluf spend the little accumulated labour of his med yard to making the pieces that can be done by a small one. If you look at the ship building info making just a patch of three Locust corvettes for example takes 12 hours of labour - would be just daft to keep on waiting if Fluf had to use all his shipyard labour for everything.

As much as I hate to quote myself:

We havnt started the production yet, and your already running in front of a gun ;) We'll need iron for pretty much everything.
I'm trying to figure out why do you need to build a shipyard, if Fluff can do that as well (besides, theres the large one to go up pretty soon, too).
Reason why FT's set up the most labor intense branches of the economy -> 0.8 production time with the advanced recepies.
And the resources are running around, before it was:
Whatever wood needed => me sawmill/carpenter => fluffy
Now:
wood => me => you => fluff
I think we're getting to the point where we have to decide. Or, we're setting up the economy so it's fun, and everyone's doing whatever they like. Or, we're setting up something efficient, expandable and replaceable.
On a side note, we'r going fruther and fruher away from the plan I've set up. If something goes tits up, don't blame me.

If we want to be competitive in the game, that means having production that works quickly, cheaply and simply. While I appreciate what Gun is doing (and as things get started it'll probably help), if we're going to get into this properly it needs to be done to plan.

Look i'm not trying to trample the program, i can deliver what i'm supposed to and have capacity to expand.
What i was thinking when i set up the yard was when looking at the labour needed for ship building. I'll use the batch of 3 Locust corvettes here as an example: it takes 12 hours of stored labour (before FT bonuses) to build it. It also takes 1 medium hull (8h) and 1 medium square rig (6h) to build which tally up to 14 hours of yard labour.
Now i don't know if Fluf managed his level grind to set up the med yard last night but presuming he nodded off before that he's not going to be able to pull 26 hours of stored labour out of his arse the second the yard's up now is he? I stand corrected if he can.
Speed's the key here to get into the game proper, i for one don't fancy tiptoeing around in the crappy civvy ships as Pirates are fielding Lexington brigs and Locusts already. It's just to get the first built ships launched asap.

It's true what you're saying. I'm not going to deny it. However, you have to agree that it's complicating things a bit and I see no reason, why Fluff can't build the small one by himself.
It's a second time that you are building stuff without notifying anyone, while I understand that you'r trying to help as much as possible, it does'nt make my life any easier. First time, I've spent a few hours trying to figure out how to change things so they work. This time, we're extending the production for no apparent reason. Now imagine that everyone's starting to build whatever they think is neccessary or not.
Edit:
I really appriciate what you're doing, and your input, for most of the time is superb. However, if I'm supposed to be responsible for the economy side of things, it would be nice, if I know of something, before it happens.

My view, since everyone is arguing over me like a used handbag - I've got the shipyard on its "one hour to build list" in that period Gun may as well use what hours he has to build stuff for me so that I can get ships out right from the get go - once I'm up and running he can dump it and use the slot to further our production needs.
The reason I didn't build a small shipyard was because by the time I got the resources for it I had enough for a Med and was only four levels away, it seemed pointless to find myself stuck for resources further down the line.

That was what i had in mind to start with, didn't mean to shit on your plan Volw. As Fluf's yards start stacking up labour time my yard's under the axe as soon as i need the building slot.
Anyways Volwie sorted me with woodworks and i have a Small Hull waiting and a Small Fore-and-Aft Rig built as soon as Hovis the Hemp King knits me some rigging and sails - we thought the first ones off the line were meant to be Mediators so we put the bits together looking at their schematics.

Most of the stuff is the same anyway Gun, it's just a case of others need more, more more!
