Long thread title, but I want to know who'll be around on Monday when the game goes open beta. Reason being we can pick a faction, team up, crank the difficulty setting up on some missions and raise some hell. :D

Plan is as soon as the game goes open I'll reform the Renegade Squadron, we'll play a for month shits and giggles, then see what's what come launch. Should give folks a chance to test the game out in a group setting, see what the PvP is like, plan our economy and so on.

Late this afternoon is the word. But that's silly yank times. The server has been wiped though, so lock and load.

Better fire up Launchpad for patching - reckon the open beta build's quite a chunk as i haven't played in a couple weeks.

Flufball
Monday, 3rd December 2007, 15:17
Easy for you, I've not even got it.

Gunhead
Monday, 3rd December 2007, 15:41
Well Fluf you might recall that patching Planetside via Launchpad always took two aeons short forever? Well you should be happy to hear that...

...nothing's changed. :D;)

Indeed. More to the point its now switched to SoE's launcher, so it should be downloading at 0.5 kb/s.

The first four days of the Pirates of the Burning Sea open beta will be reserved for our invited beta testers and members of the FilePlanet Founders Club. Open Beta is scheduled to begin worldwide on Friday, December 7th, 2007, at which point FilePlanet subscribers can get in. After that it’ll be open for everyone within a week. We’ll have a public open beta forum available shortly.

No Burning Sea today then.

So at least 2 more weeks of waiting.

Sweet, Launchpad's fucked (crashes when you hit play). They know and "are working on it", brings back the recollections of reasons why pretty much everyone playing PS hated SOE...

Well Volw and me are in. I'm starting to regret going French though. All the main PvP guilds are there and the rest are pricks to be honest. Will see how it turns out but I remember the pirates being a much nicer mob.

Flufball
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 10:06
Oh the irony.

Gunhead
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 10:41
Switch nation then? They eventually fixed Launchpad last night so i got in to make a French Privateer but got dc'd just as i started the tut mission, buggered off to bed after that... So no loss to me if flag's changing :p

Volw
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 11:38
Told you to go spain, noone's playing them :p

Anyway, we switching or what?

Gunhead

I'm all for it. Gonna log on in a few so lemme know which to make.

Hovis
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 15:09
Nah stay France. It's for less than a month after all.

Hovis
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 16:21
The society is called Légion étrangère by the way. Means Foreign Legion. I'm up to level 10, still in the starter boat, but if folks start piling in around the 7th I should be higher up by then so we'll be able to scream through the levels doing high difficulty missions with a fleet.

Gunhead
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 17:35
My french privateer's name is "Gunn de Tête", chuck me an invite when you spot me.

Here's the gang so far. :)

Flufball
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 21:34
How is it that despite choosing the French you still manage to get a British/Pirate vibe going in the character design?

Hovis
Tuesday, 4th December 2007, 23:19
It's called style. :D

Flufball
Wednesday, 5th December 2007, 12:40
I think its your subconcious mind screaming that you don't want anything to do with the French. :p

Hovis
Wednesday, 5th December 2007, 13:06
Nah, after some initial teething troubles it's clear France is the best faction for RL's needs. It's the smallest, has a terrible map, and basically will demand the most from us as players.

Volw
Wednesday, 5th December 2007, 13:24
We just need some large numbers.

French seems to be shafted in every possible way :)

Resources are impossibly far away from each other, which adds a lot of time to production. The most populate factions hate us (french and pirates) and ofc Spanish don't mind kicking the underdog as well.

Hovis
Wednesday, 5th December 2007, 16:00
He who commands the Legion commands the world. :D

If we can get ten, maybe twenty decent players come live out of us, VC and of course the big wide world, then we're going to be kicking arse and taking names.

In this beta build though, PvP wise, we're going to be getting our balls nailed to the table pretty quick, so the priority is to just dig in and hold what we've got until an opportunity to strike appears.

how to get the key to subscribe my station acount?

Gunhead
Wednesday, 5th December 2007, 18:40
You just have to create a station account, don't think you'll need any real subscriptions to do it. And as it's open beta starting on friday nobody will be needing any keys anymore and NDA's been lifted as well.

You can find the links to account creation and info/link regarding the beta client on the Pirates homepage: http://www.burningsea.com/page/home

Flufball

Still got keys, all the founders club mabobin people are having trouble at the moment because they "ran out of keys" from what I can see on the open forums.

Ah so I am not supposed to be able to play today right? Have a old station acount from when I tried Vanguard but when I try to log in it say that the acount doesnt have a subscription for Pirates.

Damn i'm growing to like this game a lot.

Last night we went hunting for big fish a bit with Volw and Peg and engaged a pair of npc pirate ships.

Gunn de Tête, the slick french privateer, got cocky in his Locust class corvette (24 guns) and underestimated the agility of even a crippled Raa class courier frigate (40 guns). :o

Gunn de Tête, since then a bit wiser french privateer, paid for his arrogance and is now sailing a 12-gun Dolphyn ketch. :(

Lesson to be learned: if you're out packhunting for ships that double outclass you or more stay the fuck away from the broadside of the bigger frigates or better yet stay the fuck away from them period.

Hovis
Friday, 7th December 2007, 12:54
If you're going to trade body blows with frigates you better hope to fuck you're either in a frigate, or something bigger, yourself, or you brought your life jacket.

Well it's a case of live (luckily) and learn. Like when mum told not to touch the kettle you only started believing her once you found out how inconvenient burnt fingers are. Or in Lean's case: only to touch the ladies down at the docks through at least four millimeters of latex unless you want to go see the doc in the morning with your knob in a bucket of ice. ;)

Not anymore. Health and Saftey Laws prohibit kettle's getting hot incase someone scalds themselves.
