Since I'm one of the selected few, that doesn't have the beta key, I was wondering, how realistic is it?
Is it important to set proper sails according to the wind direction and strenght etc?
Also, is there any skill system, like in any other mmo etc or you can only fire with one side or another and steer?
Thanks :)

it's dumbed down for all the shitheads that dno't want to think when they are playing games, just like all other mmo's.
There is a circle around your ship to tell you where you get most effect out of the wind, and there is no physics engine determining the changed effects of wind when blowing through a narrow passage or similar. The hit detection is quite impressive however, and you can wreck sails and so on to make ships move slower and in the end grind to a halt. You have a skillsystem like talents in wow, but a bit easier and bit more restricted (less setups) and you can broadside on both sides at the same time, but you can only fire cannons the direction they are pointing. You lose ship speed way too fast when you come up against the wind and the speed change is not affected by your sails being up or down. All in all, the game is pretty solid on realism, but it has been made so all the nibs can play it without getting owned by people with tons of more skill than them.
