Which should I get? Ih ear the 510 is more accurate for gaming...is it? And will I really notice the difference? I've been using an MS Intellimouse 3 for ever so will I notice a big increase in accuracy with the MX700? Will the MX700 give me cancer/brain tumours/make me infertile? Anything else?

Logitech have made a gaming specific mouse, the MX518, effectively a MX510 on steroids. :D http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2142,CONTENTID=10121
Personally, mouse choice depends on how sensitive you like your mouse to be. I have not tried the MX700, so I cant really judge. Best thing is to try both mice and see which suits you.

I read that the mX1000 was crap. Apparently the wheel is rubbish for gaming because it's too springy and you can tilt it accidentally it's too heavy for fast gaming and it goes into standby mode if you lift it up a tiny bit...

IMO thats BS i really like mine but i suppose its a case of whatever floats ur boat. I like the heavy weight of it and have had no probs at all with anything (other than forgetting to charge it up =/)
Heard that the 518 has got some nice features.

Hmmm...so suppose I'm going round a corner in counterstrike. I'm slowly moving the mouse to the right. The mouse reaches the edge of the desk. I lift the mouse up and place it back in the center of the desk. Does the mouse pause noticably?
Is the mosue wheel just like a button or is it springy? (my Intellimouse one presses just like a button but my old Logitech was like a wheel on a spring)
Is it easy to accidentally scroll the wheel sideways instead of pressing it?
How long does the battery last?
Can those buttons near the mousewheel be bound to stuff other than page up/page down i.e. are they useful for gaming?

I have the MX700 and no problems works fine etc, but my next mouse is gonna be the MX518 I think. Its gott the same functions as the MX700, but the mouse sensetivety change on the mouse is looking realy intresting.
I realy dont see the point in buying the MX510 its a bit older, has less functionality at the same price as MX518. Also I dont think the MX510 or MX700 has any better sensetivety than MX518 so the only thing that is diffrent is the changeable DCP on the MX518. The speed changes are 400, 800 and 1600. These settings are plugg and play compactiable so theres no need to instal drivers etc which I feel is grate.
Which will rock to put on while in a Max suit :D

I have a 700 and i wish i never had. The mouse buttons often 'stick' down even when you're not holding them down, resulted in killing the Legion quite often in small corridors :( Sometimes it loses it's position on the underground and resulting in the mouse going in another direction, mostly happens when you move the mouse to the edge, tilt it up a bit and drag it to the center of your mousepad again. The only way to solve it is change the channel on wich the station sends/receives signal. It has 8 or even more channels i think and its damn annoying to switch back to windows desktop, sort the channel out again and return in game while the game is frozen because it waits for the FPS to catch up again. NEVER buy wireless crap again!

The 518 does look interesting but I wonder if I'd ever actually use the DPI changing feature. tbh I think I'd rather have a 'switch to pistol' and 'switch to greande' button on my mouse than the ability to change it's sensetivity up and down. As you say, it'd be awesome in a MAX but I don't play PS anymore :(

If youre not gonna use the crappy software that comes whit Mx510 the two buttons that are used as speed up and down on the 518 are only extra buttons for scroll up and down like the mouse whelle. ergo you would not have a extra button for switching to anything.

If you'd said crappy software for the earlier mice I'd have agreed, but I use all the buttons on the mx510 in PS, I can only do that using the software that comes with it, thankfully Logitech seems to have got it right for the mx510 (the software for it only works on the 510).
Earlier logitech mice I was forever hacking the registry to get it to work how I wanted, even then it was a bit on and off, all history for me now :)

Have to say i bought the MX1000 Laser last night... and its fucking awesome...
It has the image processing power better than most Digital Cameras so no-way is it gonna lose its sense of direction.
and Vas... all that bollocks about standby mode and a crappy mouse wheel is just that... Utter bollocks!

My MX510 is a wonderful thing, I'll only be getting a new one when theres such a leap in technology that I'm required to, and the great thing about it is that from the looks of it, the mouse will last till then.
If I had to chose between the 518/1000 I would go for the 518, simply because I'm not to keen on wireless tech.
