These two bits got my attention :)
Despite what you've seen in a lot of the game play videos recently, the combat can be fairly fast-paced. It relies entirely on player skill, as there is no auto attack. If you're slow at pushing your keys then yes, your character is going to look dreadfully sluggish. I personally can't wait to get my hands on the PvP in this game after playing it though; if the combat experience from the hands on is any indication, it's going to make for great skill-based PvP that should really set aside the complaints about item-based MMOG's in the past.
Add on to that the fact that even the PvE combat won't become repetitive; heck it can't, Jason Stone mentioned that AI is built to detect patterns in swings and react accordingly. What this means is that if you're going to do nothing but slam Q, you're going to regret it as you do less and less damage with each subsequent attack, as the NPC reacts and defends itself against that attack.

deffo looked nice, especially the vid. However vids for some reason seem to look 'cooler' if filmed with an external device rather then say fraps or something, if u know what i mean, the contrast is higher and u dont notice pixels.
BTW: am i the only one worried about the specs required to play this beauty?:P

No, go here (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest) and select Age Of Conan from the drop down list. It will then give you a pass or fail result based on your system specs for both Minimum and Recommended specs of the game.
I barely passed the minimum and failed the recommended, then again my system is about 3 years old now.

Seems i even failed the minimum speccs. All components passed bigtime but my videocard failed misserably guess thats my bottleneck then, very handy site. Still stuck with an Geforce 6600GT cause i dont got any money to spend on it.

Nvm tho as there is still 4 months until release!

AoC has nowt to do with the films, the lore is based upon the Robert E. Howard short stories and the various extended universe books released based up on the original works.

Cool tool there Ludi cheers.
My rig passed minimum easy but failed recommended due to OS (no Vista yet) and my vid card was one notch short (got 7800GTX where recommended is 7900GTX :p).

cheers ludi, nice link to check system requirements.
Ive run it and I easily make the mininimum requirements yet just miss out on the reccommended due to not having Vista. Not that im fussed, still saving the pennies so when AoC comes out it should be about the right time ive saved up some decent money for a system above and beyone the reccommended system specs. If AoC is delayed at all, all the better as it will give me a month or two extra to save up more money and get even better components.

It should be noted guys that the Recommended Specs are for the DX10 version of the game not the DX9 version. Whilst DX10 will make your game look prettier they arent really necessary at all for gameplay which will be just fine on the DX9 version.

It can't be, for recommened you need 7900gtx which is a dx9 card.
The game is probably gonna be pretty system demanding in dx9 mode anyway- and the 7900gtx will be almost 18months old by the time the game is released.
I would of though the 6600gt would work since the 9800series is listed as minimum for ATi which is inferior to the 6600gt.

I stand corrected...
The Developers have announced (Somewhere on the official forums) they are aiming for the specs to be about equal to that of Oblivion.

If it's like Oblivion in how it presents exteriors then DX10 or not you'll want a unified shader card. They are brilliant for that sort of thing.

The actual gameplay video looks really good. It looks like there will be a lot of scope for group tactics in battle, although I'm disappointed there doesn't seem to be a bloke key, though I could be wrong. Removing the capacity to defend removes a significant portion of the skill in any fighting game.

No 'Block' key no, but with the way that the damage registration is designed you can in theory(A few reviews have also backed this up) move you toon so that the force of enemy blows strike your shield thus sort of blocking. Will have to wait and see when we all get a chance to actually play it tho.

never said they did. though i might be shooting myself in the foot - the wow trailers (well, the TBC one) did show a lot of things that were in game, just more sexy. There is also no cheesy dialogue or unneeded carnage.
ps: "YOU ARE NOT PREPARED" is not cheesy.

Meeh didn't like it much....the WoW and Warhammer online ones gave u a much better mood for the game imo :o
P.S. It's amusing how Ludi jumps instantly to defend this game from what we say, are they paying you at least? :(

Yes, its a 'Lube For Posts' extravaganza! Seriously tho Derek, where have i jumped to defend here? I have simply pointed out that WoW had the same shizzle with its Cinematic Trailer which isnt defending, its stating a fact :)
I personally dont like Cinematic Trailers of any kind, waste of money if you ask me.
